He Knows No Fear won with odds of 300/1

History was made this afternoon in the 14:30 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Leopardstown as He Knows No Fear became the longest-priced winning starting price in the history of UK and Irish racing at a whopping 300/1.

The previous high winning starting price was 250/1 when Equinoctical was successful at Kelso in 1990.

A total of 26 bets with an overall value of £34.50 were staked on the horse with Coral, with the biggest bet being a £2.50 each-way single.

Coral’s John Hill said: “Although He Knows No Fear enters the history books as the longest-priced winner in UK or Irish racing, he did not go completely unbacked. Incredibly, 26 punters were able to find the winner, an amazing achievement given he was 300/1,”

“The previous record was set 30 years ago at Kelso and that came over jumps. This was on the Flat, which makes it even more surprising,” added Hill.

“Results like this are what make sport so great as every now and then the underdogs come out on top,” concluded Hill.
