1.30 Chester – Revich
I won this race 12 months ago on Revich, who loves it around this course. He is now back down to his last winning mark at Ayr, and I expect he will run a big race.
His draw in stall seven is just about ok in this 12-runner field. He has to bounce back from his two starts so far this season, but the handicapper has given him a chance now.
2.35 Chester – Dream Harder
I don’t know too much about this horse. He is by Muhaarar, whose horses always seem to stay. His sole success on turf came at this course in a handicap contest. He has been given a nice draw in stall five and I think he could outrun his odds.
3.05 Chester – Israr
He ran a great race at Sandown last time out in the Gordon Richards Stakes, finishing third behind two good horses. The track and trip will play to his strengths here.
You have to respect Passenger and Royal Rhyme in what is a good race. He is not the easiest horse to win with, but if he is to win another race, I think it could be this.
Israr odds: 13/8
3.40 Chester – Zealandia
He won on the all-weather at Newcastle two starts back in what has been a busy campaign for him during the winter. He knows this track very well, and I do think he is overpriced here.
I’ve won the Chester Cup twice before, so it is a race I am very fond of. I won it in 2008 with Bulwark and in 2012 with Ile de Re. I am hoping I can bring up my hat-trick!
Zealandia odds: 25/1
4.15 Chester – Law Of The Sea
He ran well in this race last year, finishing fourth. He was a little unlucky in the contest. His most recent form is not great, but from stall two, he should get a good run around here.
Law Of The Sea odds: 7/2
