Go with Goken and Kevin Ryan record for All Weather Sprint Final

Progressive Kevin Ryan charger Goken looks the answer in what is set to be a fiercely contested renewal of the All Weather Sprint Final over 6f at Lingfield on Good Friday.

Booking his AW Finals Day place by decisively winning the Listed Golden Rose Stakes over course and distance back in November, Goken has more scope than most of his big race rivals.

Lousy draw for Lancelot

Ante post favourite Lancelot Du Lac is 11 clear on Racing Post Ratings, yet both he and Goken race off official BHA marks of 109 here.

Trainer Dean Ivory and connections had to decide whether to send Lancelot Du Lac to the Dubai World Cup meeting again or have a crack at these All Weather Championships, and opted for the latter after definitive back-to-back victories at Kempton and Chelmsford.

The draw has not been kind to Lancelot Du Lac, however, and he goes from unlucky stall 13, but his form coming into this Sprint Final is solid.

Lightscameraction, who was third in the Fast Track Qualifier won by Lancelot Du Lac, has come out and won the listed Hever Stakes since to give a rubber stamp to that result.

Goken can go great guns

Missing Meydan may yet prove a mistake because of Goken. Formerly trained by Henri-Alex Pantall, he won a Group 3 on just his second start.

Goken’s most eye-catching outing on turf came in the 2015 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot where he finished a hugely respectable eighth.

Handler Ryan also has a top record of producing sprinters, with the likes of Hot Streak and Astaire both hailing from his yard.

If Lancelot Du Lac has got a lousy draw, then Goken has prime real estate next to the rails in stall one, and that is enough to give the latter every chance here.

Gamgoom gets each-way nod

Chookie Royale from Richard Fahey’s stable is also officially rated the same as the race principals, but the each-way value here could come from Gamgoom.

Losing by a neck to Rivellino back in February, who reopposes him here, Gamgoom is a relatively unexposed horse that travelled wide on that occasion and gave weight to the winner.

From stall four, Gamgoom could easily find himself involved in proceedings come the business end of this All Weather Sprint Final.

Selections

Win – Goken
Each-way – Gamgoom
