Raheem Sterling, who has played 82 times for England since making his debut in 2012, could be set to miss out on Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.

The Chelsea winger hasn’t been in the best form this season, but was arguably England’s most important player at Euro 2020 just three years ago, so many expected him to continue to feature for his country.

However, that doesn’t appear to be happening. Sterling has missed out on the last few England squads and there’s a real possibility that he isn’t selected by Southgate for the major tournament this summer.

So, Coral looks at the odds of Sterling being selected for Euro 2024, and assesses who could be brought in to replace the four-time Premier League winner if he isn’t picked by Southgate.

Will Raheem Sterling be selected for England’s Euro 2024 squad?

As noted, it seems like Sterling is being phased out of England’s squad, with the Chelsea winger not being selected during the last few international breaks.

It seems like Southgate is moving away from Sterling and looking at younger options who are more in form, meaning there’s a real possibility the winger misses out on a spot at Euro 2024, despite previously being one of the England manager’s preferred players.

At the time of writing, Coral has Sterling at 12/1 to be selected for the Euro 2024 England squad, behind the likes of Jarrod Bowen (1/1), Cole Palmer (2/5) and Ollie Watkins (1/10), all of whom have been in better form than the former Liverpool and Manchester City player this season.

Ivan Toney, who played his first game of the season in January after returning from a ban, has been priced ahead of Sterling, and is therefore seen as more likely by the bookies to make it into Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024, with odds of 4/6.

Below are the odds for several attackers, including Sterling, Palmer, Toney, Watkins and Bowen, to make it into England’s 23-man Euro 2024 squad, from Coral.

To make England’s 23-man Euro 2024 squad

  • Bukayo Saka – 1/33
  • Harry Kane – 1/25
  • Ollie Watkins – 1/10
  • Marcus Rashford – 4/11
  • Cole Palmer – 2/5
  • Ivan Toney – 4/6
  • Jarrod Bowen – 1/1
  • Anthony Gordon – 6/5
  • Dominic Solanke – 5/1
  • Raheem Sterling – 12/1

At the time of writing, with Coral, England have been priced as the sole favourites to win Euro 2024 in July of this year. Southgate’s men, at 10/3. The Three Lions are just ahead of France, who knocked them out of the World Cup in 2022, with odds of 7/2, to be crowned as the winners of the major tournament this summer.
