Odds, preview and betting tips for FA Cup fifth-round tie

Without any major silverware since they won the League Cup in 2009, Tottenham Hotspur’s best chance of ending that drought could come in this season’s FA Cup.

With experienced winner Jose Mourinho at the helm, and the previously unstoppable Liverpool out of the running, Spurs are joint third favourites at 8/1 to win the cup.

Spurs come into the game on a dreadful run of form, losing their last three in all competitions, including two defeats at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A 3-2 home defeat to Wolves on Sunday, who are rivalling the North London side for a top four spot, could prove to be the wake-up call they need to get their season back on track.

Tottenham v Norwich Match Odds

Tottenham are overwhelming 4/7 favourites, with Norwich underdogs at 24/5 to make it through to the quarter finals. The draw is available at 13/4.

Lucas Moura and Troy Parrott are joint 7/2 favourites to get the first goal in this tie, with Dele Alli an 11/8 anytime scorer, and Steven Bergwijn at 13/8 to get on the scoresheet anytime too.

For Norwich, it’s Teemu Pukki who’s the 4/1 favourite to score first, with the Finn 6/4 as an anytime scorer too. Elsewhere, Josip Drmic is 7/4 to get a goal, with Todd Cantwell at 11/4.

But they’ll need to overcome Daniel Farke’s Norwich City side, who despite being rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, come into the tie off the back of a spirited team-performance and win over Leicester City.

Unfortunately for the Canaries, the sides around them also picked up crucial wins, so they remain rooted at the foot of the table. But beating a huge side such as Tottenham at this stage of the FA Cup could prove a welcome distraction from the doom and gloom of their Premier League campaign, with many already writing off their chances of league survival.

There’s a lot riding on this game for both sides. With their current slide in form, Tottenham need a confidence-boosting win heading into the back end of the season. As for Norwich, another win against a top club could kick-start a great escape, as well as continue their cup run.

If Spurs do lose at home again and fail to turn around their first leg deficit against Red Bull Leipzig, their season could spiral into another full of disappointment. They’ll be part of the chasing pack in the hunt for top four, and without a trophy to chase.

Mourinho has tended to opt towards a strong starting XI in previous cup games and we could see a similar approach here. The Portuguese boss has a long injury list to contend with too.

He’s still without the likes of captain Hugo Lloris, star strikers Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Juan Foyth and Moussa Sissoko are still out too, with Erik Lamela a doubt in attack.

Daniel Farke has a few injury concerns of his own to contend with, but he’s likely to rest a few too in order to concentrate on their Premier League survival. Sam Byram, Onel Hernandez and Timm Klose look to be long term absentees, with Christoph Zimmermann a doubt to slot back in to the back four.

Will we see Tottenham’s season start to come together tonight, or can Norwich cause an upset and boost their confidence even further? With creative, expansive football from both teams, we could be in for a real FA Cup classic tonight.
