The Netherlands are back at a major finals and will want to prove they are still one of European football’s powerhouses ahead of their Group C campaign.

The Dutch failed to qualify for the last European Championship in 2016 and then missed out on the 2018 World Cup so are hoping to make amends, especially in front of their own fans in Amsterdam.

Ronald Koeman stepped down as head coach in September when he took over as Barcelona boss and was replaced by former Crystal Palace manager Ronald de Boer.

He failed to win any of his first four fixtures – a start which will sound all too familiar for Palace fans – but their form has improved since then, although they were beaten 4-2 by Turkey in a World Cup qualifier in March.

The 1988 champions have plenty of players who have shone at club level but Virgil van Dijk’s failure to recover from injury in time is a blow and Liverpool’s performances for much of this season have shown how hard he is to replace.

Despite Van Dijk’s absence, the Netherlands are the 2/5 favourites to win the group and are 7/4 to do so with a perfect record.

North Macedonia are making their debut at a major tournament and could be the whipping boys of the group, having been priced at 2/5 to finish bottom.

Don’t be too hasty to write off the Balkan nation, though, with their 2-1 win in a World Cup qualifier against Germany in March showing what they are capable of.

They are 11/5 to qualify for the knockout stage while there is little to choose between Ukraine (9/2) and Austria (5/1) in the Group C winner odds.

Ukraine won their qualifying group ahead of Portugal and their June 21 showdown with Austria in the final round of group games could have plenty riding on it.

Austria, managed by Franco Foda (pictured), lost their opening two Euro 2020 qualifiers but bounced back to qualify in second place – five points ahead of North Macedonia.
