Preview and odds of the England top scorer market

There are high hopes England can use home advantage and challenge for their first major title since 1966 at this summer’s European Championship.

In our England top scorer betting tips, we analyse who could lead the scoring charts for Gareth Southgate’s team.

Harry Kane

Regardless of the stage he performs on, Kane consistently tops the scoring charts.

Three years ago he became the first England player to win the Golden Boot at a World Cup since Gary Lineker in 1986 and his goal against Leicester saw him pip Mo Salah to the Premier League prize for the third time.

The Tottenham striker was England’s top scorer in qualifying and is the regular penalty taker so is the clear favourite at 10/11 to lead the way here.

Raheem Sterling

By his own high standards, it was a relatively disappointing season for Sterling in front of goal and he only managed 14 in all competitions, including just one since the beginning of March.

He has struggled to secure a regular starting place at Manchester City such is the level of competition at the champions but it has been a different story for England.

Having gone three years without an international goal, Sterling scored eight in qualifying so he could be an interesting alternative to Kane at 5/1.

Marcus Rashford

Rashford must put the disappointment of Manchester United’s Europa League final defeat behind him and switch his focus to England and is a 7/1 shot in the England top scorer odds.

He only managed three goals in all competitions in the last three months of the season but scored a penalty against Belgium in October so could be on spot-kick duties if Kane is not on the pitch.

Phil Foden

Foden may not start every week for Manchester City such is the depth of their squad but he has become an increasingly important part of the team and will be hoping the same applies when on England duty.

The midfielder ended the Premier League season with goals in two successive matches and also netted in both legs of City’s Champions League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund.

Assuming he starts in Southgate’s strongest line-up, Foden may be an interesting outsider in this market at 12/1.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The Everton striker was the third-highest scoring Englishman in the Premier League this season behind Kane and Patrick Bamford, who is not in the squad.

His form may have tailed off as Everton’s European hopes faded but he is still the most likely alternative to start up front if Kane is injured or rested.

Calvert-Lewin has scored four goals in his first seven appearances at international level and in terms of England top scorer betting tips, he is 16/1 to lead the goal charts for the Three Lions this summer.
