Dan Skelton blog: “Thrilled with North Hill Harvey win”

I was thrilled with North Hill Harvey’s win in the Greatwood on Sunday. It’s funny how things work out. He went down to Wincanton and didn’t run because of the ground, so ended up running at Cheltenham and winning a huge race and valuable prize. We will probably wait for the Cheltenham Festival now just like we did with Superb Story last year. His target will be The County Hurdle.

Churchtown Champ, the Coral Champions Club horse, has come out of his win at Southwell really nicely. He will head for Doncaster next in early December. Looking further ahead he could even run in the Feltham at Kempton. Thistlecrack is likely to scare of most opponents so that might be a good opportunity to get more experience and pick up decent prize money. I’m really happy with him.

Weekend runners at Haydock and Huntingdon

1.50 Haydock – Ch’Tibello

Ch’Tibello is taking on horses with a few pounds in hand on him on the ratings but there is decent prize money on offer and limited places to run him so unless its waterlogged we will probably take our chance. The ground is against him but hopefully we can beat one or two of them.

2.25 Haydock – Two Taffs

This has always been the plan for Two Taffs. He had a nice warm up over hurdles at Carlisle and I think he goes to Haydock with a big chance.

12.35 Huntingdon – Bandsman and Chap

Bandsman – It’s not really happened for him so far. I don’t know why. But this flat track will help him, and having finished second a few times, I hope he can go one better.

Chap – He’s lost his way since his bumper and we’re having our last run over hurdles before going chasing.

It’s a quiet weekend for us after having a really busy time of it. Unfortunately we lost Walking On The Air yesterday which was really sad, and just shows the ups and downs of horse racing. That’s what the sport’s like and you just have to keep you head up and keep moving forward. Thankfully the rain has arrived too so there should be suitable opportunities to run more of our horses in the weeks ahead.
