Cup double-header provides the live action

We miss out on our usual fix of Premier League Super Sunday action this weekend, due to the FA Cup fixtures, but there’s still plenty of football for punters to enjoy, including a double-header from the fifth round of the nation’s favourite knock-out competition.

A London derby goes ahead live on BBC at 2.00pm as Fulham host Tottenham at Craven Cottage. Once again, terrestrial TV look to have chosen well here and they are hoping to catch a glimpse of a famous upset. BT Sport have the same idea when sending their boys to Ewood Park for Blackburn Rovers vs Manchester United.

Let’s look at the best ways to make your viewing pay-off.

Fulham’s hopes up in smoke

Feuding neighbours Fulham and Spurs meet for the first time since 2014, and the first at Craven Cottage since December 2013, when Tottenham left with a hard-fought 2-1 Premier League win. They are expected to work for anything they get again here.

Mauricio Pochettino’s boys were beaten 1-0 by Gent in the Europa League on Thursday, and are lucky to still be in this format, sneaking past Wycombe Wanderers 4-3 in the last round. They were almost caught off-guard there, but should’ve learned their lesson and will pull rank on the locals on Sunday.

Both teams have scored in each of the last two meetings between Fulham and Tottenham, and a play on both score and Spurs win will brighten up your day at 23/20 with Coral. Those looking to keep it simple will find the away win at 5/6.

United’s form to continue

Blackburn roll out the red carpet for Premier League big-guns Man Utd on Sunday and it is a meeting of a local side desperately out of form in English football’s second-tier, and an opponent who are enjoying some of their best results for years, and showing no signs of slowing up.

Mourinho would take a top-four finish in the Premier League over an FA Cup win, that’s for sure, as a return to the Champions League is a must for The Red Devils. But why can’t he have both? They certainly have the ability to win the competition and push hard in the league and, at the very least, they’ve enough about them to get through against Blackburn. Owen Coyle’s side are second-bottom of the Championship, and have won just two of their last 10 starts, both 1-0.

That makes our 4/11 on a United win look massive, and punters confident that the away side will stroll to a place in the next round can back them -2 on the handicap at 12/5. Fellaini scored against Wigan, and can be tried again at 10/1 to break the deadlock.
