West Ham to deliver hammer blow to Liverpool
With an absent Jurgen Klopp, mounting injuries and a fan revolt over rising ticket prices, Liverpool haven’t had the best of weeks ahead of their FA Cup fourth round replay with West Ham United.
Meanwhile, the Hammers sit three places ahead of the Reds in the table, having only lost twice in their last 12 matches and are 8/5 to triumph.
Liverpool have won just once in their last six Premier League appearances, a run that started at Upton Park on January 2nd. At the weekend, Sunderland came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Anfield as thousands of spectators poured out the stadium in protest at rising ticket prices.
However, Reds midfielder Adam Lallana defended the fans actions and said: “We’ve only got ourselves to blame. We probably dropped a bit too deep as a team and didn’t continue doing what we were doing in the second half to get the goals.”
The game saw Dejan Lovren and Joe Allen added to the ranks of the wounded, with both being replaced against Sunderland and so are now doubts against West Ham. Daniel Sturridge, though, could make a comeback appearance as he was an unused substitute against Sam Allardyce’s side.
Sturridge to score comeback goal
Injuries have plagued Sturridge’s Liverpool career and has missed more games than he has played. However, when he does play, he is likely to score, boasting an impressive 37 goals in 60 domestic games.
Getting four strikes in six appearances, the England international also has a superb record against the Hammers. Sturridge is 6/5 to score anytime, but with him more likely to come off the bench than start on Tuesday night, he is 9/2 to net last.
Carroll to haunt former club
Former Reds number nine Carroll resumed training after a month out and came on at the weekend against Southampton, after being hit by a number of injuries since joining the Hammers in 2012.
The manbunned marksman has made only seven starts this season but will look to impress at his old stomping ground and show the Anfield crowd why Liverpool signed him for £35m in 2011. Carroll scored in his only FA Cup outing this term in their 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in January and will hope he can do the same on Tuesday evening.
When the two sides met in January in the Premier League, Carroll struck against his former employers with a trademark header – in injury time to help his side win 2-0. The striker is 6/4 to score anytime and 11/2 to net last again.
Hammers set to outscore Reds by two
Slaven Bilic’s men sit just eight points behind a Champions League spot after 25 games and has raised hopes the Hammers could qualify for Europe. They have a good record against Liverpool in recent matches – losing just twice in their last six meetings.
The previous six times West Ham have beaten the Reds, they have done it by a two or more goal margin and are 29/20 to do score that many or over on Tuesday night.
West Ham have also kept a clean sheet against Liverpool in their last three meetings, and are 21/10 to shut them out in the regulation 90 minutes. However, the hosts will be without right back Sam Byram, who is cup tied, while James Tompkins is a doubt after limping off against Southampton.
