Coral rumour reel: northwest is best in today’s transfer gossip

David de Gea is back in the gossip today, with newspapers suggesting that Real Madrid are willing to wait until the Spaniard’s contract is up with Manchester United at the end of next season. But can they afford to wait, especially with Iker Casillas declaring he’d be open to a move to play in the MLS?

However, tabloid reports claim that 11/4 FA Cup second-favourites United will offer star stopper De Gea a mega deal that would make him the highest paid keeper in the Premier League.

Elsewhere at Old Trafford, highly-rated 20-year-old Nick Powell, who was once dubbed the ‘new Paul Scholes’, could be on his way to Hull City for the rest of the season, with former Red Devil Steve Bruce keen to add to his attacking ranks.

Northwest rivals Liverpool (5/1 top four chances) are also in the transfer gossip today, and are being linked with Porto’s teenage sensation Ruben Neves, who has perhaps less fortunately been likened to Sergio Busquets by former Barcelona player Cristian Tello. The 17-year-old is also being tracked by the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG, and could command a massive £29m fee.

Brendan Rodgers is also eyeing up two more midfielders, in impressive Hannover duo Lars Stindl and Leonardo Bittencourt.

One player that could make a move very soon is forgotten man at 9/2 Premier League second-favourites Manchester City, Scott Sinclair. The former Swansea City forward has passed a medical with Aston Villa, and looks set to join them on loan until the rest of the season, after they previously pulled out from signing him permanently.

Down in London, Crystal Palace are hoping to sign a couple of players before transfer deadline day on February 2nd. The Eagles are reportedly close to landing QPR midfielder Jordon Mutch and Lille left back Pape Souare, who is set to return from the Africa Cup of Nations after his nation Senegal were knocked out. Palace are also in talks with free agent and former Newcastle United cult hero Shola Ameobi.

One player Palace, and West Bromwich Albion, seemingly won’t be getting anymore, though, is Blackburn Rovers’ Rudy Gestede, with Swansea City now front runners to sign the striker.

The Swans are looking for a replacement for Wilfried Bony, while unsettled Bafetimbi Gomis is reportedly the subject of an £8m bid from West Ham United. Sam Allardyce has rubbished that link, but has not ruled out a move for Burnley’s Danny Ings.

Elsewhere in gossip today, Southampton are keen on further bolstering their ranks, by taking Serbia forward Filip Djuricic on loan from Benfica, while PSG are also hoping to strike a similar deal for Emmanuel Adebayor from Spurs, who are 12/5 chances to lift the Capital One Cup.
