English League One Betting & Odds at Coral
The English Football League One is the second-highest division of all British football Leagues. It is also known as "League One" for short and has been so since 2004 when it replaced its predecessor, The Football League Second Division (often referred to by fans simply as 'The Second' or just plain out).
League One was introduced for the 2004-05 season. It is commonly known as Football League Second Division and has been around longer than when it became just "the third tier", which is what many people think of when they hear 'League One'.
A quick history lesson: The term "league" comes from soccer's English origins where teams played each other over a set number of matches with whoever having won progressing to higher levels or leagues within their respective systems - hence why we have different Leagues at various skill/ability levels!
With seven former Premier League clubs currently in the division, Gillingham hold the longest tenure. They last played out of league places back in 2012-13 and there are six other teams with four seasons or more playing here now too - Sheffield Wednesday (1992-2000), Ipswich Town (1992 -95 & 2000)
