We target a tasty treble
Moving on to Wednesday’s schedule from the World Matchplay and we have some exciting fixtures ahead, not least greats of the game Phil Taylor vs Raymond van Barneveld. One of the most popular rivalries in sport, we’re sure this one will live up to the hype.
Coral’s sports team have run their eye over the form and betting, returning with a treble worth having. Follow our thinking to a £10 stake and your balance will be boosted by £46.10, if everything falls into place. Here’s a look at our hopefuls…..
Barneveld beat Taylor
Game of the night, and by a fair distance, we’ll start with Raymond van Barneveld to upset the odds vs Phil Taylor. These two old rivals have spurred each other on for most of their careers, and when The Power moves into retirement at the end of 2017, we don’t think Barney will be far behind. Neither man has been playing anywhere near his best darts this year, so this might turn out to be a bit of a tribute act, but there will be a winner, and we think it’ll be the Dutchman. Barneveld beat Joe Cullen 10-8 earlier this week, Taylor edging past Gerwyn Price 10-5. Not a lot to take confidence from there. 56-year-old Taylor admitted he doesn’t have the dedication to practice as much as he used to, and a punt on the better price seems worthwhile. Raymond at 6/5.
Lewis beat Cross
Adrian Lewis, another who hasn’t been giving 100% for a while now, and we’re not entirely sure why. The 32-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent is more than capable of winning this year’s title, if he wants to, but we really don’t think he does. Our traders don’t fancy him much either, offering Lewis in the outright market at 33/1, or 12/1 to reach the final. Concentrating on Wednesday, and Jackpot has more than enough ability to pull rank over Hastings youngster Rob Cross. If this one follows the form, Coral’s 4/7 about a Lewis win looks decent.
Chisnall beat Norris
We round things off with a punt on Dave Chisnall to do as expected and beat Alan Norris. Chizzy came through a bit of a scare against Mervyn King, sneaking past 10-7 in what turned out to be a thriller. That was always going to be a tough match, and the winner must be credited for grinding out the desired result, but more concentration is needed. King is a better player than Wednesday’s opponent Alan Norris, on paper anyway, and the pride of St Helens will do us a favour at 1/3.
