A Leverkusen win to nil is going for 11/5, while 13/8 says they’re leading at half-time and full-time.
In the goalscorer markets, Kai Havertz leads the way at 7/2 for First Goalscorer. Lucas Alario isn’t far behind at 4/1, or 7/5 to net anytime.
Davie Selke is 7/1 to open the scoring for the hosts, with Milot Rashica a 5/2 Anytime shot.
Before the Bundesliga was forced to halt proceedings, Bayer Leverkusen were looking like serious contenders for a Champions League spot.
They’d really hit their stride, winning eight of their last nine matches in all competitions before the enforced break. They’d also picked up more points in 2020 than any Bundesliga side other than Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. But will going so long without a match have disrupted their rhythm?
We’ll get an indication tonight when they take on Werder Bremen. Peter Bosz’s side are currently fifth. A win will take them just a point behind fourth-placed RB Leipzig.
If any side are going to allow Leverkusen to ease back into action, you’d think it would be Bremen.
They’re down in 17th, nine points off safety, albeit with two games in hand. Die Werderaner also have a dismal home record. They’ve lost their last six home games in league action, failing to score in five of them.
However, the break may have given the hosts the opportunity to reset. Form and momentum go out of the window in this situation. And without a nervous crowd in the stadium, they may feel less pressure here. They will be without Davy Klaassen in midfield though, while Claudio Pizarro is also out, though Nuri Sahin is back in midfield.
Leverkusen almost have a full fit squad, with Kevin Volland the only absentee. That’s a big loss and they’ll now look to Lucas Alario to provide the goals needed to seal a top-four finish. The Argentine has impressed sporadically when given the chance. Can he deliver consistently in Volland’s absence?
With a huge game against Borussia Monchengladbach coming up this weekend, Leverkusen will hope they can click back into gear here. If they can get close to their level before the break, you’d expect them to have too much for Bremen.
