Wednesday’s £5 Carabao Cup acca is paying over £200
Published:Five picks as the second round continues
The Carabao Cup action continues this evening as 12 more teams battle it out for a place in the third round.
Tonight’s picks focus firmly on the favourites, although there could be a surprise in store at St James’ Park.
Back this Coral acca with a £5 stake and you could bag a healthy payout of £207.50. Prices and returns mentioned are correct at the time of writing.
Let’s get started with today’s five-fold…
Burnley to beat Blackburn
It’s a Lancashire derby to kick things off, as Burnley travel to rivals Blackburn.
Ewood Park will be rocking for the first meeting between the two sides since the 2015-16 season, but the visitors should have enough to come out on top.
The Clarets have won their last three against Rovers and are able to call upon the services of new £15m capture from Leeds, Chris Wood. They’re 23/20 to make the next round.
West Ham to beat Cheltenham
A tricky tie for the Hammers who are yet to taste victory this season.
Even with the potential for an embarrassing slip-up, Slaven Bilic’s side have enough quality to avoid the upset and progress through at Whaddon Road.
They bolster the acca up at 2/5.
Huddersfield to beat Rotherham
The second derby of the evening as two sides that were in the Championship together last season meet at The John Smith’s Stadium.
Huddersfield manager David Wagner has confirmed he will rotate his side ahead of the clash, but against a Rotherham team that has failed to make round three since 2009, the Terriers should face few problems at 4/11.
Southampton to beat Wolves
The Saints like this competition. They’ve made round three in each of the last six seasons and at 4/9 should do so again here.
Wolves undoubtedly have quality within the side, but their record against the South Coast club isn’t great – save two victories during the 2008-09 season.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s Saints picked up their first victory of the campaign against West Ham on Saturday and will not underestimate their Midlands opponents.
Nottm Forest to beat Newcastle
The acca gets its golden price with Nottingham Forest 6/1 to beat Newcastle.
Rafael Benitez’s side have endured a spluttering start to the season and could put out the kids against Forest this evening. Added to that, the visitors have only lost one of their last six cup games against the North-East club.
An upset could be coming on Tyneside, with Newcastle’s miserable start to the season set to continue.
