Warriors Heavy Favourites to End 40-year NBA Championship Drought
Published:Golden State Warriors will be looking to close the deal on their first NBA championship run since 1975 when they hit the floor on Tuesday for Game 6 against the Cleveland Cavaliers as strong 4.5-point favourites in NBA betting at Coral’s online sportsbook.
The Warriors have responded with a vengeance after falling behind 2-1 in the series, posting a pair of statement wins over a wounded Cavaliers squad, who look to have lost a step since taking the early series lead.
After averaging just 92 points per game in their losses in Games 2 and 3, the Warriors rediscovered their offensive touch in Games 4 and 5, posting double-digit victories while easily covering as basketball betting favourites at Coral.
Once again, it was Lebron James that led the way for the Cavaliers in Game 5, scoring 40 points and recording a triple-double for the second time in this series and third time during the current post-season.
But without injured stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, the Cavs worked a short bench that showed signs of fatigue late in the game, when the Warriors pulled away with 31 fourth-quarter points, 17 by regular-season MVP Steph Curry.
Without James’ usual supporting cast, Cleveland has struggled to produce offense, and has averaged just 89.25 points scored per game in their last four contests, well short of the 103.1 ppg they averaged during the regular season, second only to the high-scoring Toronto Raptors in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
That spells serious trouble for the Cavs, heading into Game 6 at Quicken Loans Arena against the NBA’s highest-scoring offense, which is 16-1 SU in their last 17 when scoring 100 points.
Overall, the unexpected low-scoring in the NBA Finals has benefitted sports bettors taking UNDER the point total, which is 3-1-1 in the series. The point total has progressively dropped with each passing game, and is pegged at just 194.0 for Game 6 in NBA Finals betting at Coral.
With a 3-2 series lead, and no indication that any change in fortune is imminent, the Warriors have extended their lead atop the NBA futures betting odds at Coral, where they are now perched as 1/20 favourites.
The Cavaliers, who briefly seized the mantle of favourite following their win in Game 3 have now fallen to distant 10/1 underdogs ahead of their final home game of the season.
