Carlos Court and Rahyvira Ming among tips for Towcester and Harlow

Carlos Court gets the verdict at Towcester

The first round of the British Bred Derby at Towcester take centre stage on Racing Post Greyhound TV tonight (Sky 468, Freesat 250) and T5 Carlos Court rates the standout bet in heat one at 19:31.

Derek Deakin’s dog is a really pacy sort who ran with tremendous credit to get to the final of of the British Breeders Stakes at Nottingham.

He was arguably unlucky not to capture the valuable prize as he failed by a whisker to turn the first bend in front and got crowded at the second bend before going down by just a length to Badabing.

It was a cracking effort given how the race panned out and Carlos Court has since moved really well in the trial over 480m at this venue.

The step up to 500m will hold no fears and as the sole middle seed he looks ideally housed to ping out and make all.

King Eden drawn to deliver

T6 King Eden is in terrfiic form at present and can cash-in on what looks a good draw to get the better of main market rival T2 Castell Henry in heat two (19.47).

Liz McNair’s son of Droopys Scolari has won his last two starts by wide margins and in the last of those flashed out to make all and beat kennelmate King Kid by four lengths in the final of the Puppy Derby Final at Wimbledon.

He hasn’t got the credit he deserves for that success and, despite being sent off 20/1, there was no fluke about it.

The pace he showed to the opening bend was ferocious and he once again looks nicely drawn in the stripes to follow-up.

Kid can Kick rivals into touch

McNair can complete a quick fire double with the aforementioned T5 King Kid in heat three (20:02).

He got outrapped by King Eden and hit the rails when finishing runner-up in the Puppy Derby at Wimbledon but had gone into the race on the back of three impressive victories at the track by a total of 12 lengths.

In the last of those he showed searing early pace to lead at the first bend before surging clear to beat Bridgehouse Boy by eight lengths.

A repeat of that run should be more than good enough to see King King get back to winning ways.

Rahyvira River hot stuff at Harlow

Harlow is also featured on Racing Post Greyhound TV and T1 Rahyvira Ming rates the standout bet on the card in the 415m Standard Open (21:15).

Nina Shine’s charge has been running well in defeat of late and looked an unlucky loser last time out over course and distance when going down by 2 1/2 lengths to Rio Rialto.

The son of Ashford Castle was sent off favourite that day from the two box but got crowded on more than one occasion before sticking to the task well.

Rahyvira Ming, who is one from two at the track when sporting the red jacket, will appreciate the switch back to the rails. Also, with T3 Rio Rialto having a faster starter in Droopys Cambs on his outside, looks ideally drawn to boss the inside and capitalise on any middle crowding to gain his revenge.
