Jaytee Spartacus can floor Monmore rivals

Top class Open race action from Monmore takes centre stage on Racing Post Greyhound TV tonight (Live Sky 468, Freesat 250), and T2 Jaytee Sparatcus looks cracking value to land heat four of the Gold Cup at 20:11.

Paul Young’s dog is unbeaten in two runs at the venue and, in the first of those, produced a lightning split of 4.22 to score by 9 3/4 lengths in a time of 27.93.

That reads well in the context of this contest and, prior to two trials, the son of Scolari Me Daddy had looked in great shape when landing the first semi-final of the Classic at Sunderland before getting badly crowded in the final itself.

If Spartacus can time it right at the traps, then he can quickly boss the inside an open up an early advantage and once on the bunny is an extremely difficult sort to pass. He is thus among our Monmore tips tonight.

Buick to turn on the style

T4 Droopys Buick is a real class act and looks a worthy red-hot favourite to land heat three (19:56).

Jimmy Wright’s son of Yeah Man made the final of the Scottish Derby, and was well fancied by many for English version until being ruled out through injury.

However, he looked better than ever when equalling the fastest time of the year at Newcastle in the heats of the Wilf Husband Memorial when pinging out and leading at the first bend to draw clear and register an impressive 6 1/2 length success in 28.18.

Buick also ran as well as could be expected last time out at Shelbourne when third to the awesome Clares Rocket in the semi-final of the Champion Stakes.

This represents an excellent opportunity for Buick to get back to winning ways, and he can confirm himself a leading contender for outright honours.

Droopys Country drawn to deliver

Wright looks to hold leading claims of landing a double with exciting pup Droopys Country in heat five (20:26).

The son of Aero Majestic has won five of his nine starts and impressed when scoring over course and distance seven days ago.

Droopys Country showed bags of early pace to produce a 4.38 sectional and overcame slight crowding at the first bend to surge clear and score by four lengths. It was a most taking display and the winning time of 28.02 was a respectable.

He looks sure to come on for that second sighter at the venue and, if leading at the first from what looks a good draw in Trap 5, it’s difficult to see anything picking him up.

Billys Bullet has all the ammunition to be among Monmore tips

T1 Billys Bullet is one of the most popular dogs in training and looks a cut-above his rivals in heat three of the Stayers Classic (21:30).

The Mark Wallis trained son of Ace Hi Rumble has been a terrific servant and overcame serious injury to win the final of this year’s Coral Regency at Hove in May by 3 1/4 lengths.

Billys also ran a blinder on his penultimate start over course and distrance when runner-up to the thriving Shellam Delano before getting back to winning ways at Hove last week when making all to score easily by four lengths.

He looks to have a great draw in red to blast out and turn in front, and if doing so he won’t be for catching.
