Preview and odds for this week’s European Tour event
The European Tour returns to Denmark this week for the Made In HimmerLand.
Bernd Wiesberger will defend his title in Farso after pipping Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre by a single shot in 2019.
The Austrian missed the cut at last week’s US PGA Championship, although HimmerLand’s 6,751-yard layout will offer a very different test to the brutal challenge at Kiawah Island last week.
However, the 35-year-old is without a top-30 finish since January – a run of nine events.
Another player to have made the trip from South Carolina to Scandinavia is MacIntyre, who has had two top-10s in his last five starts and has now made the cut in his first six career majors after finishing 49th on Sunday.
The 11/1 favourite is third on the European Tour for greens in regulation, so MacIntyre is likely to feature prominently in plenty of Made In HimmerLand betting tips.
Olesen looks to shine on home soil
Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen was one of golf’s most impressive rising stars when he won a fifth European Tour title in Italy three years ago and then impressed on his Ryder Cup debut.
He has since dropped out of the world’s top 300 but there have been signs of the 31-year-old returning to form, with the 25/1 chance finishing fifth and 12th on his first two starts of the season in the Canary Islands recently.
With accuracy and putting likely to be important over a short par-71 layout, Olesen also features prominently in several key statistic categories.
The Dane leads the European Tour this season for scoring average on par threes, is fifth for greens in regulation and third for putts per green in regulation.
The last two events have seen veterans take the title, with Richard Bland winning a first European Tour title at the age of 48 and 50-year-old Phil Mickelson becoming the oldest major winner in history at the US PGA.
Another home favourite will be hoping that trend continues, with 46-year-old Soren Kjeldsen a 125/1 chance.
Kjeldsen has made the cut in his last seven events and has previously finished second and seventh at this venue, as well as being seventh on the European Tour for par-four scoring average this season.
Hill hoping for more Danish success
Scotland’s Calum Hill is still chasing his first European Tour title but the most recent of his three Challenge Tour wins came in Denmark.
The 26-year-old is also in sensational form, having finished in the top 10 on four of his last eight starts.
The 28/1 chance is third on the European Tour for par-three scoring and sixth on par fours.
Greens in regulation are also likely to be important and Mikko Korhonen and Joost Luiten, priced at 45/1 and 33/1 respectively, stand eighth and ninth in that category.
