Next Leeds manager odds: The leading contenders

Elland Road, next Leeds manager odds

Sam Allardyce failed to keep Leeds in the Premier League and the club are once again searching for a new manager ahead of the 2023-24 season.

After a campaign to forget for the Whites, there is pressure to make the right appointment as they look to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Here we look at the leading contenders for the role and the latest Leeds manager betting.

Daniel Farke

Next Leeds manager odds: 10/11

Farke could be the ideal candidate to revive Leeds’ fortunes, having twice won the Championship with Norwich.

He was unable to sustain his success once they got there though, finishing bottom of the 2019-20 table with just 21 points and leaving them in the same position in the 2021-22 season when he was sacked.

The German took charge of Borussia Monchengladbach at the start of the 2022-23 campaign but left at the end of the season after the team finished 10th in the Bundesliga.

Coral’s Lewis Knowles said: “Daniel Farke is now odds-on to be appointed the next permanent Leeds manager following strong support in the last 24 hours. The German knows the Championship well, so it would be no surprise if the Championship club were to turn to him.”

Patrick Vieira

Next Leeds manager odds: 4/1

Sky Sports reported on Tuesday morning that Vieira is one of the names under consideration by the new Elland Road hierarchy and that has seen his odds slashed from 9/1.

The Frenchman has been out of work since being sacked by Crystal Palace last season and will be interviewed this week, according to Sky.

Vieira would surely relish another chance to prove himself as a manager in English football, where he enjoyed so much success as a player at Arsenal.

Graham Potter

Next Leeds manager odds: 5/1

The former Chelsea boss is now third in the betting as he seeks his next job following his sacking by the Premier League club.

While Potter’s time at Stamford Bridge did not go well, the success he has previously enjoyed at Ostersund, Swansea and Brighton means it will only be a matter of time before he is back in management.

Potter would be available for an immediate start and knows the city, having been a coach at Leeds Beckett University before moving to Sweden.

Darren Moore

Next Leeds manager odds: 6/1

Moore was expected to be plotting the downfall of Leeds this season as manager of Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday after guiding them to promotion from League One via the play-offs.

The Owls stunned the footballing world by announcing they had parted company with Moore by mutual consent on Monday though, so the former centre-back is a new entry in the betting market.

The surprise departure has prompted some speculation that Moore already has another job lined up and Leeds would seem a realistic destination.

Carlos Corberan

Next Leeds manager odds: 8/1

Corberan has worked at Elland Road previously and would be a popular appointment if he returns to the club.

The Spaniard was part of the coaching staff under Marcelo Bielsa but left to move into management at Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield, who he guided to the 2022 Championship play-off final.

He then flopped at Olympiakos in Greece but returned to English football with West Brom and transformed them from relegation strugglers to promotion hopefuls, although they had to settle for ninth place last season.

Could he be persuaded to leave The Hawthorns for their Championship rivals?

Best of the rest

Lee Bowyer claims he was contacted by Leeds before they appointed Sam Allardyce as manager for the rest of the season in April and the former Whites midfielder has expressed his interest in the job but is 14/1 to get it, while Scott Parker is the same price having won promotion from the Championship with Fulham and Bournemouth.

Steven Gerrard has been linked with plenty of roles since being sacked by Aston Villa but the 20/1 shot remains out of work and may need to drop down to the Championship to get his management career back on track.
