Lowgate Malfoy cracking value in Towcester showpiece

The rescheduled final of the Leamaneigh Turbo at Stud British Bred Derby at 21:06 takes centre stage on a mixed-card at Towcester tonight, screened live on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky 468, Freesat 250), and T6 Lowgate Malfoy looks cracking value to land the spoils.

Jim Hayton’s charge ran well to reach the final of the British Breeders Stakes at Nottingham when finishing a 1/4 length third to Badabing, and shaped well in his first race at this venue when forced wide at the first and coming third to King Kid.

The son of Windy Millar then duly improved for that sighter when scoring over course and distance seven days ago in the semis, coming with a strong run to score by 2 3/4 lengths after being slowly away.

Although not the quickest from the lids, Lowgate Malfoy is a strong sort who looks ideally housed as the sole wide seed to capitalise on any scrimmaging on the inside.

He doesn’t have much to find on the clock with main protagonists and, if turning in a handy pitch, is going to be a real handful if within striking distance turning for home.

Carlos Court gets the verdict

In Leamaneigh Turbo At Stud Standard (20:34), T4 Carlos Court is strongly fancied to get the better of an early paced tussle with T5 Bockos Alfie and get back to winning ways.

Derek Deakin’s dog is a really pacy sort who ran with tremendous credit to get to the final of of the British Breeders Stakes at Nottingham.

He was arguably unlucky not to capture the valuable prize as he failed by a whisker to turn the first bend in front and got crowded at the second bend before going down by just a length to Badabing.

Carlos Court has since scored impressively on debut over course and distance when very quickly away and making all to score early by 3 1/4 lengths in the opening heats of the British Bred Derby.

He then missed the break completely when fifth behind Bang On Giles in last week’s semis when sent off a heavily-backed favourite, but if starting in his best fashion is going to be very tough to beat in this slightly less competitive affair.

Sprinter Sprite drawn to cut a dash

T1 Sprinter Sprite impressed when making a winning debut over course and distance and looks to hold leading claims of following-up in the Leamaneigh Turbo At Stud Sprint (21:24).

Jim Reynolds’ charge railed well from the one box before running on strongly to beat Xavier by 3/4 of a length in a time of 15.38.

That was a big improvement on previous trial efforts at the venue on which he had found time on each occasion.
The son of Head Bound is clearly going the right way and looks a much more early paced and quicker dog than T2 Killinan Act on his immediate outer.

If clearing that rival he can boss the rails before proving too strong for main market rival T3 Mandeville Can.
