Madison to taste success at Doncaster

Coral’s experts provide their best bets for a top class card at Doncaster screened live on Sky Sports 5 and featuring the final of the Yorkshire St Leger.

Huarache Madison hot stuff in St Leger final

The final of the Yorkshire St Leger (21:08) is the feature contest on an excellent Open card at Doncaster tonight screened live on Sky Sports 5 and T3 Huarache Madison looks to hold leading claims of landing the spoils.

Kevin Hutton’s lightly-raced and unexposed bitch has improved every time she has gone to the boxes and, after finishing a fine length runner-up to Droopys Tamera in the first round, produced a cracking display to gain her revenge on that rival in the semi-finals four days ago.

The daughter of Paradise Madison produced a 14.54 sectional to flash from the boxes and make all to score easily by 2 3/4 lengths in a time of 41.35.

That was the fastest of the three semis and Huarache Madison should have plenty more improvement left in the locker.

She will need to ping out and turn the first bend in front as there are two quick dogs on her inside, but a reproduction of her last split should be good enough to see her do just that.

Blackstone worth a bet to beat the Bolt

T4 Kildallon bolt is a red-hot favourite to win the Invitation Puppy which gets proceedings underway (19:11), but T2 Blackstone Brand looks decent value to lower his colours.

James Chalkley’s pup is improving at a rate of knots and comes into the contest on the back of two impressive successes in Open contests at Nottingham.

On each occasion he has shown good early pace before staying on strongly at the business end of affairs to score by 3 1/4 lengths.

His times at that track compare well to those clocked by Kildallon Bolt and he is clearly right at the top of his game at present and looks on to keep onside.

Alpha Carinea holds all the aces

In the Maiden Stakes (19:26), T4 Alpha Carinea looks a cut-above his rivals and rates a solid bet.

The son of Tubbertrelly Dubh had some top class for to his name in Ireland, beating the very useful Blue Cafu by a short-head and running and absolute blinder to finish a 3 3/4 length third to the brilliant Ballymac Matt in the heats of this year’s Irish Greyhound Derby.

That form is head and shoulders above what any of his rivals have achieved and he comes into the contest on the back of two impressive sprint trials at the track. Alpha Carinea makes his debut for trainer Susan Watson in what looks a very winnable contest.

Queen Asia to rule in Oaks final

T1 Queen Asia won her first start at the track in good style and looks a worthy favourite to follow-up in the British Bred Oaks final (20:16).

Liz McNair’s bitch made all to score by a length in a time of 29.53 and that is quicker than anything her rivals achieved in the other heats.

The daughter of Droopys Scolari is entitled to improve for that sighter and as the sole railer in the line-up looks to have a dream draw.

She may be led to the first by the quick starting T2 Acomb Ruby, but should be able to turn in a lovely pitch and then make her class and power tell.
