Droopys Who drawn to deliver in Kent Derby Final

The Kent Derby Final is the feature contest on a cracking Open race card at Central Park tonight on Sky Sports 2 (21:08) and T5 Droopys Who looks decent value to land the spoils.

The son of Tullymurry Act had some smart form to his name in Ireland and won two of his three starts at this venue since joining trainer Richard Rees.

Droopys Who was particularly impressive in the last of those nine days ago when showing bags of early pace to lead-up and make all to beat Barricane Tiger by a length.

The winning time of 28.60 was the fastest of the semis and Droopys Who looks nicely housed on the outside of four railers.

With T2 Barricane Tiger drawn on the inside of the favourite T3 Bubbly Bluebird, there is a distinct possibility of crowding on the inside and a smash break can see Droopys Who capitalise to turn the first bend in front and make all.

My Mate Max makes plenty of appeal

In the 450m Mini Standard (19:11), T4 My Mate Max looks worth siding with from what looks a handy draw.

John Mullins’ charge is a potent force when timing it right at the traps and has run really well on his last two visits to the venue, including when a 2 3/4 length third to exciting prospect Droopys Acrobat over 480m when quickly away and leading until getting picked up close home.

That form reads well in the context of this contest and My Mate Max comes into it on the back of a gutsy success at Romford, when rallying after getting badly crowded to get back up and score by a head.

With T3 Calco Flyer sure to be cutting in at the opening bend, My Mate Max should get plenty of room to manoeuvre and, if getting a flyer from the traps, he is going to be a tough nut to crack if getting on the bunny early doors.

Lots to like about Lenson Santi

T5 Lenson Santi can put his track knowledge to good use to get the better of T3 Ela Ela Genie in the 265m Sprint (19.25).

Tony Collett’s charge has won three of his eight starts at the venue over the longer 480 trip but is blessed with stacks of early pace a clocked a very respectable 16.35 in a trial over course and distance back in August.

Prior to that he had run well at Hove when third to Ela Ela Genie in the Coral Sprint final when that rival was ideally drawn in Trap 1.

With Ela Ela Genie now having to run from the white jacket on his first look at the track he will have to be on his toes to clear the two on his inside and avoid a possible coming together and that may well leave the way open for Santi to lead-up.

If doing so Lenson Santi is going to be extremely difficult to peg back given his form over longer distances.

Billys Bullet can gun down rivals

T2 Billys Bullet is a real credit to connections and can get the better of Starring Storm to land the 642m Stayers contest (20:33).

Mark Wallis’ Coral Regency winner ran very well to make the final of the Yorkshire St Leger and comes into the race on the back of a decent trial over 480m at Towcester.

The son of Ace Hi Rumble is a tenacious sort who won over course and distance back in March and looks nicely housed on the inside of the jolly Starring Storm.

If holding that rival to the bend Billys Bullet has every chance of turning in front and that may well enable him to establish a long enough lead to fend off any late challenges.
