Published:Our traders take us through today’s key info
There are 12 more Greyhound Racing meetings fromacross the UK and Ireland today to whet the sporting appetite.
Here, our traders concentrate on the action atMonmore, Crayford, Romford and Nottingham as they give you their all-importantinsight.
Trap three is where you want to be at Monmore. It has the bestrecord in 2020, producing 164 winners this calendar year at a strike-rate of19%. That’s some going.
Looking closer at today, one of the most in-form dogs running isDeeteedee Slider in the 3:19. You only need to look at his last six races tosee why. Kim Billingham’s charge has won three of them and finished runner-upon the other three occasions.
He makes the step up to six bends for the first time today. Andgiven his running style and how fast he finishes race over the standard 480mtrip, we think he could be an exciting prospect over this more testingdistance.
2020 has been good for trap four at Crayford with 137 wins. Lookout for Dean Childs too – his dogs have racked up 76 wins so far at animpressive strike-rate of over 20%.
Those two stats are interesting by themselves. But what makes themeven better is that Childs sends out Droopys Plus in the 2:12 today, and he’llgo from trap four.
The dog has made an outstanding start to his career. After makingan eye-catching debut he has produced a hat-trick of wins by distances of 6½l,3¾l and 2l respectively. He makes the step up to A2 grade this afternoon, andhe’ll be looking for another all the way win.
Tonight marks the last open meeting at Romford for the foreseeablefuture. But the good news is we have some real high-quality action to lookforward to. 2020 has been the year of the red jacket in this part of Essex, with 42 wins at a strike-rate of 25.9%.
We’re most looking forward to the 9:26, which isthe best race on the card. Droopys Aoife is the one to note. She won the CoralEssex Vase in December and has won nine of her last 12 races at a strike-rateof 75%.
She won’t have things all her own way, though.Sparta Master will oppose and would have been favourite for the aforementionedCoral Essex Vase but for a crash on the M25 which meant both trainer and dogcouldn’t get to the track on time. They were ultimately withdrawn.
The pair return to Romford tonight after going ontheir travels to Crayford and Nottingham recently. Can they mark their comebackwith a win?
Trap three and trap four have dominated the bias sofar in this piece. And it’s the same again at Nottingham, with trap threeproviding 83 winners at a strike-rate of 18.6% in 2020.
Peter Harnden is the trainer you’ll want to lookout for. He’s recorded 64 winners at the track since 1st January and sends outSalacres West tonight. She’s a bitch in-form having won four of her last sevenraces.
Harnden sends her out in the 8:13 – the eighthrace on the card – and she’ll look to make use of her early pace as she bids tomake it five wins from eight.
