DP World Tour Championship Betting Preview: Can Patrick Reed seal the Race to Dubai crown?
Latest odds ahead of the final European Tour tournament
Just 72 holes remain on this season’s European Tour, and we’re heading to the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai for the DP World Tour Championship.
A victory for Patrick Reed, Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood or Lee Westwood could guarantee the Race to Dubai crown, but they won’t have it all their own way with such a strong field.
Ahead of tee-off, we’ve had a glance over the field and given you our picks of the main contenders.
Patrick Reed – 9/1
After competing in only seven European Tour events this season, Patrick Reed still tops the Race to Dubai ranking with just over 2,427 points. He finished T10 in his last appearance at The Masters.
His sole win of this year’s European Tour came back in February, winning the WGC-Mexico Championship by a single shot over Bryson DeChambeau.
Reed finished T28 in last year’s event, with his best result coming back in 2018 where he finished T2 with Matt Wallace, just two shots behind Danny Willett.
Tommy Fleetwood – 12/1
Despite failing to secure a European Tour win in 2020, consistency has been the key for Tommy Fleetwood to remain in the hunt.
He’s impressed in his previous three European Tour appearances this side of the Atlantic this year, quietly going about his business, finishing second in the Scottish Open and third in the Portugal Masters, with only a poor final round seeing him slide to 13th in the BMW PGA Championship.
A first win in the DP World Tour Championship appearance would be enough to win the Race to Dubai, with good experience to build off from last year, missing out to Jon Rahm by one shot.
Collin Morikawa – 14/1
The world number seven showed what he’s all about in the final round of the US PGA Championship, shooting six under par to move two clear of Paul Casey and claim his only European Tour win of the season.
It’s been somewhat of an inconsistent year for Morikawa, missing the cut for the U.S Open while finishing a lowly T44 in his last appearance at The Masters.
He’ll be making his first appearance at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, but with the Race to Dubai title still up for grabs, the form book could go out of the window and we could see an out-of-sorts Morikawa piece together the perfect performance.
Lee Westwood – 50/1
After winning his season opener at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Lee Westwood has gone on to struggle, but still leaves himself with an outside chance of winning the Race to Dubai.
The world number 47 is fourth in the Race to Dubai rankings, but the 47-year-old has found strength from within to compete at the season finale despite battling a back injury.
His years competing at the top-level show what he’s got left to give. After sitting out the Golf in Dubai Championship in order to prepare for this tournament, could we see one final flourish to spring a shock at the Jumeirah Golf Estates?
