Four famous stars who played for both Bayern Munich and Juventus

Chile international midfielder Arturo Vidal has arrived at the Allianz Arena this summer, having made the switch from Juventus to Bayern Munich, after agreeing a four-year deal with the German champions.

The dominant Bundesliga conquerors’ latest acquisition follows in the footsteps of four other famous stars to have played for both European giants, as the Chilean midfielder aims for a successful maiden campaign (5/1 with Coral to win Champions League).

Here are another four famous faces to have featured for both the respected German and Italian sides.

Hasan Salihamidzic
As Vidal prepares to embark on a new journey in his career in the Bundesliga, this former Yugoslavia-born Bosnia and Herzegovina international made the opposite switch back in 2007.

Salihamidzic spent nine seasons with the German giants before making the move to the Turin titans, having made over 230 Bundesliga appearances at the height of his success, lifting six league titles.

The extremely versatile midfielder, who regularly featured at full back during his career, also secured a Champions League triumph in 2001 with Bayern, but failed to win any silverware in Italy in four years.

Mario Mandzukic
This summer, Croatian centre forward Mandzukic arrived at the Juventus Stadium from Atletico Madrid, where he struck 20 times in 42 outings, following two deadly campaigns in Germany with Munich.

The towering targetman was most successful with Bayern, where he helped the Germans incredibly lift the treble, including a Champions League final victory over domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2013.

Mandzukic will hope to enjoy similar silverware success with his new side, with Juventus hoping to banish memories of their European defeat to Barcelona last term by going all the way this season (14/1 to win Champions League).

Luca Toni
Veteran Italian hitman Toni was a true late bloomer, sensationally rising to prominence at the 2006 World Cup, where he was named in team of the tournament for his superb performances on the way to a famous Gli Azzurri victory.

After two prolific campaigns for Fiorentina, Toni switched to Bayern in 2007, going on to help them claim a league and DFB-Pokal Cup triumph.

Following his departure from Munich in 2010, the Italian sharpshooter eventually arrived in Turin a year later, but his time there was less than spectacular, netting just twice in 15 outings before setting off into the sunset in Dubai.

Lucio
This highly-decorated former Brazil international centre back won virtually every honour imaginable during his playing time for club and country.

A 2002 World Cup coup was followed by three double-winning seasons with Bayern, securing both league and cup victories, before earning huge success with Inter Milan, having left Germany in 2009.

In July 2012, Juventus snapped up the dominant defender on a two-year deal, but his time in Turin ended bitterly only six months later, as his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Surprisingly, now at 37 years of age, Lucio is still carrying on for FC Goa in the Indian Super League, under the guidance of Brazilian coach Zico.
