Formula E whizzes on to the Far East this weekend for round five of the season in Hong Kong.

The campaign has yielded four different winners from the four races this term, and the championship remains wide-open.

Formula E’s Gen2 cars continue to receive the thumbs-up, and we should have another cracker in store this Sunday.

The story so far

The opening rounds in Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Chile threw up plenty of great on-track racing, but that was nothing compared to events last time out in Mexico.

An early red-flag period for a heavy Nelson Piquet shunt threw team’s race calibrations out of the window.

Nobody was quite sure how much energy was required to make the end of the race, and it concluded in amazing fashion as race leader Pascal Wehrlein ran out of juice just meters from the chequered flag. Lucas di Grassi swept by to become the season’s fourth different race winner.

Jerome d’Ambrosio heads the standings after four rounds however. The Belgian is six points clear of Antonio Felix da Costa, with Sam Bird just one point further back.

And our traders still can’t call this year’s champion. D’Ambrosio, Wehrlein and Bird all share 4/1 favouritism in the championship winner’s market.

Da Costa is in the hunt at 9/2, as is 5/1 shot and pre-season favourite Jean-Eric Vergne.

More thrills in the Far East

This is the third year in a row for Formula E in the Hong Kong. The drivers will race around a 1.1mile circuit along Hong Kong’s Central Harbourfront.

Sebastian Buemi won the venue’s first ePrix in 2016, before Bird and Felix Rosenqvist claimed last season’s double-header event.

Like many of this season’s city-based venues, it’s a tricky track where errors will be punished. Who will hold their nerve this weekend?
