Latest race preview and Formula E odds

The 2018-19 Formula E season whizzes on to round three this weekend, for the Santiago ePrix in Chile.

We’ve been treated to a pair of excellent races so far this season, with the new Gen2 car receiving much approval. The new cars are faster, more efficient, and now last the whole race distance.

The story so far

With many deriding the monotony of Formula 1, Formula E has already seen five drivers across three teams stand on the podium this season.

Antonio Felix da Costa won the opening round in Saudi Arabia, and was on course for another win last time out in Morocco before a disastrous race-ending clash with BMW Andretti team-mate Alexander Sims.

That left ex-Formula 1 driver Jerome d’Ambrosio to sweep through to victory for Mahindra. The Belgian also finished third in Saudi Arabia and currently heads the driver’s standings.

He’s 12 points ahead of da Costa and another former F1 star in Jean-Eric Vergne. And it’s the Frenchman who heads up the betting for Santiago…

Season heats up in Chile

Vergne, the reigning Formula E champion, is 9/4 favourite to win in Chile this weekend.

The Frenchman has looked rapid throughout the season for the DS Techeetah team and would have won in Saudi Arabia but for technical issues.

But between himself and team-mate Andre Lotterer, the Chinese outfit lead the Teams standings. Verge also took pole position and the win in Chile last year, with Lotterer backing him up in second.

Da Costa is second favourite in the betting at 7/2, ahead of team-mate Sims at 15/2. It remains to be seen what damage the incident in Marrakesh has done to the BMW Andretti squad’s momentum and morale.

Then comes Lucas Di Grassi at 17/2, Lotterer at 9s and then Morocco winner d’Ambrosio at 10s.
