EFL Cup round 3 tips for Tuesday clashes

Domestic action takes a backseat this midweek as the EFL Cup is the focus for many Premier League and Championship clubs, including top-flight champions Leicester and Chelsea, who battle it out at the King Power Stadium.

So, ahead of the games taking place on Tuesday night up and down the country, Coral outline five EFL Cup round 3 tips for punters to enjoy during the tussles…

Slimani to strike anytime for Foxes over Blues

The live televised clash between Leicester and Chelsea is the most eye-catching of Tuesday night’s fixtures, as Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes welcome Antonio Conte’s Blues to their home patch for what could be an intriguing encounter.

New summer signing Islam Slimani made an instant impact on his league debut for the Foxes recently, dispatching a double in the 3-0 win over Burnley, and the Algeria international marksman is a tasty 2/1 to get on the scoresheet again anytime in 90 minutes.

Liverpool to fire four or more past Derby

Liverpool have not lost to their cup opponents Derby County since the turn of the Millennium, and Jurgen Klopp will be confident his Reds can keep that record intact when they travel to Pride Park in midweek.

The Merseysiders have won the last four successive fixture meetings, including a 6-0 thrashing a few years back at Anfield, and they are 16/5 to fire in four or more goals this time out, having been in superb attacking form of late.

Bendtner to net against former side Arsenal

This will be the first fixture match-up between Nottingham Forest and Arsenal since 1999, but there will be a very familiar face potentially lining up for the hosts at the City Ground, with former Gunners frontman Nicklas Bendtner possibly set to feature.

The 28-year-old Denmark forward spent nine years at Arsenal before moving on to Wolfsburg and recently arrived at Forest in the summer. Having become somewhat of a cult hero among fans, Bendtner is 10/3 to strike inside normal time against his former employers.

He is yet to score for his new side in just two outings so far, but what better way to get off the mark than against his long-standing former club?

Wood to open proceedings against Blackburn

Leeds United striker Chris Wood has enjoyed a surge in form in front of goal of late, having opened the scoring in his last two appearances, during victories over next cup opponents Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City.

With the clinical finisher having already found the target first in a win over the Rovers just last week, he’s a promising 9/2 to open proceedings once again this time around at Elland Road.

Valencia to strike anytime over Norwich

Belgium international hitman Romelu Lukaku has been firing in goals at will recently, but the attacker has been ruled out with injury and is set to be replaced by Enner Valencia.

The Ecuador international finisher will be aiming to get off the mark for his new club this current campaign and enters at evens to dispatch anytime inside 90 minutes on his latest showing on home soil against Norwich City.
