League Two betting tips: Barton’s boys look uneasy favourites

| 11.11.2021

Preview and odds for Saturday’s games

There are 10 matches taking place in England’s fourth tier on Saturday and we look at a selection of those in our League Two betting tips.

We have also previewed the pick of the action in League One but here we focus on League Two, starting with the match at Port Vale which is live on Sky Sports at midday.

Port Vale v Bradford

Bradford began the season being widely tipped for promotion but it is Port Vale who look the most realistic contenders so far.

Vale are second in the table and a win by two goals would see them go top above Forest Green, who are not in action this weekend.

Darrell Clarke’s men are 17/5 to get the result they need to take over at the summit but would presumably settle for any kind of win, which can be included in League Two betting tips at 5/4.

Vale are in fine form with seven wins from their last nine matches and they have scored at least three goals in five of their last six; a record which they are 4/1 to improve further.

Bradford begin the weekend in 12th due to a lack of consistency and they have only managed two wins since August.

The recent 3-1 victory at Swindon showed what they are capable of, though, and that was followed by a 1-1 draw with Forest Green so they can certainly trouble the top teams.

City are 9/4 for a second successive away win while the draw is 23/10.

Bristol Rovers v Northampton

Northampton cannot catch Forest Green this weekend but can certainly put the heat on the leaders given they are just four points behind in third.

The Cobblers have climbed the table thanks to a run of four straight wins which have all been achieved without conceding a goal.

That run has contributed to Northampton having the best defensive record in the division with just 11 goals conceded and a fifth straight win to nil is an option for League Two betting tips at 18/5.

Despite that run of form, Northampton have been priced up as 9/5 underdogs and Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers are 13/8 favourites despite losing three of their last four home matches.

Four of their five wins this season have been against teams currently in the bottom half, although the exception was in their last league game when they won 1-0 at Harrogate.

Scunthorpe v Salford

It has been a disappointing start to the season for both of these teams and although it may be too early to talk about six-pointers, this certainly looks an important match at the bottom of the table.

Scunthorpe are propping up the table but are only five points behind 19th-placed Salford so this is a good opportunity to ease their relegation worries.

Both of Scunthorpe’s wins this season were on home soil and they are 16/5 to make it a third this weekend or they are 5/6 to avoid defeat.

The Iron have drawn four of their six matches against teams in the bottom half and the points to be shared is priced at 9/4.

The bookies certainly expect Salford to win this one despite having lost five of their six away games.

The visitors are 19/20 for victory but have conceded at least two goals in all their away defeats with their only clean sheet coming in a 2-0 win at Colchester.

Both teams to score in a match which they will be targeting victory in looks a good option at evens while a Salford win and both teams to score is 7/2.
