Coral English Open final tips

There’s only two men left standing in what has been a dramatic inaugural Coral English Open at EventCity in Manchester, as Bristol’s Judd Trump collides with Chinese cueist Liang Wenbo in the final.

The Juddernaught took care of semi-final business without any real trouble as he dispatched Barry Hawkins 6-2, while his final opponent Wenbo edged by 2015 world champion Stuart Bingham 6-5 with an exciting final frame decider victory.

With the chance to become the first ever winner of this new Home Nations Series event at stake, along with a cool £70k top prize, Coral outline English Open final tips for punters to enjoy as Trump and Wenbo battle on the baize…

Wenbo to take opening frame

In both Wenbo’s last English Open outing against Bingham and his previous encounter with Trump at the 2016 World Championship earlier this year, the 29-year-old took the opening frame.

So, with the Chinese potter having enjoyed promising starts in both these match-ups and, with Trump having also conceded the first frame against Hawkins, backing Wenbo to land the opener at 13/10 could prove worthwhile.

Trump to lead after frames 1-4

Despite his slow initial start to semi-final proceedings against the Hawk, Trump eventually grabbed the match by the scruff of the neck and began to assert his dominance with clinical break-building.

The 27-year-old favourite, who has won two of the last three clashes with Wenbo, will look to seize control early on once again and is therefore evens to be leading the final after frames 1-4 have been played to a conclusion.

Favourite Trump to lead 6-2 after eight frames

Bristol’s brilliant break-builder Trump rallied to a comfortable 6-2 success over Hawkins last time out, while Wenbo was pushed all the way by Ball-Run Bingham, and the former cueman holds encouraging odds to secure that same result after eight frames here.

Punters can choose to back Trump to storm ahead to a commanding 6-2 lead after eight frames at 10/3, with the in-form world number three aiming to clinch what would be his seventh career ranking event title.

Trump to triumph 9-7

The EventCity finalists have collided on seven occasions in their respective careers and in four of those encounters since 2009, the winning margin has been exactly two frames.

So, to round off our English Open final tips, another two-frame success in favour of the tournament front runner Trump can be taken up at 8/1 to rally to a 9-7 victory on Manchester soil.
