And then there were two. The 2017 PDC World Championship has its finalists following another thrilling tournament, full of smashed records and sensational showdowns, that came and went in the blink of an eye over Christmas and New Year.
But who from top two seeds Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson will crown this cracking edition of the competition by becoming king of the PDC world and lifting the Sid Waddell trophy?
Despite valiant attempts from downed semi-finalists Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld punters will see the cream of the crop, in the world number one and reigning world champ, compete at Alexandra Palace.

Michael van Gerwen v Gary Anderson
Though The Flying Scotsman’s dose of magic on this stage should not be underestimated, with the 46-year-old now 17 games unbeaten at the Ally Pally and chasing a third successive Worlds trophy, in his fourth final in seven years.
Anderson overcame Snakebite impressively 6-3 but, just as he punished some of his fellow Scot’s weaker finishing, MvG will have surely taken confidence from how Wright threatened a comeback before the world number two reclaimed his grip on the game.
Punters can back this battle to go all the way, therefore, with a 7-6 victory for Van Gerwen priced at a generous 15/2.
There’s hope for The Flying Scotsman in that Mighty Mike has been know to stumble on this stage, and Anderson has toppled the man in lime green in two of their past four frays, including two finals.
Still, MvG holds a head-to-head advantage of 22 fixture wins to Anderson’s 13, though it is four apiece from the eight finals they have contested so far. With such quality on show, a nine-darter is 9/2 to occur in this clash between two power scorers.
Deadly Dutchman MvG has enjoyed a sensational year in the sport, however, and not only broke the record for highest average ever in the PDC World Championship last time out with 114.05 as he beat Barney 6-2, but also produced the tournament’s joint-highest checkout by hitting 170 on three occasions.
Punters can pick up an excellent match special of 6/1 for Mighty Mike to win the match and hit another 170 on his way to doing so.
Or, there’s further value for the 2014 world champ in a throwcast at 13/5 for victory and 20 or 10 to be the winning double, just as it was for MvG in that previous Sid Waddell trophy success.
