Big games in UCL and Championship
There are big games on the domestic and European front on Tuesday night. In the Championship, a number of the promotion hopefuls are in action. Meanwhile, the Champions League throws up a number of intriguing clashes on Matchday Five.
The Coral News Team have studied the stats and compiled a fivefold acca on the footballing action. A £5 stake would pay out a handsome £112.53 if it succeeds. Odds correct at time of writing.
Here are their selections, beginning with a straightforward test for Pep Guardiola’s men…
Man City v Feyenoord: Man City to Win Both Halves
Following 15 wins in 16 matches in all competitions, Manchester City look like serious contenders to lift the Champions League trophy this season. They should certainly have little trouble with another comfortable victory over De Stadionclub, with the Citizens winning the reverse fixture 4-0.
That’s part of a wider trend. Guardiola’s side haven’t just been winning games this season, they’ve been doing it in style. The North-West giants have outscored their opponents either side of the break in eight games this term, including each of the last two. Man City to Win Both Halves looks a solid addition at 19/20.
Sheffield United to beat Fulham
The Blades have won more home games than any other Championship side this term, with seven victories in eight at Bramall Lane. And Tuesday night sees Chris Wilder’s second-placed side host a decidedly out-of-form Fulham.
The West London club are winless in their last six Championship games, and head to South Yorkshire on the back of successive away defeats. With the Cottagers failing to see off the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End in recent weeks, they’re unlikely to have any joy here. Sheffield United to Win is 11/10.
Bristol City to beat Preston
Talking of the Lilywhites, they’re in even worse form than Fulham. Alex Neil’s side have managed just one point from their previous five games, and haven’t scored in over 380 minutes of football.
That’s in stark contrast to the Robins’ recent streak. They’ve taken 13 points from their last five, including a 2-1 defeat of Cardiff City and a 4-1 rout of Premier League Crystal Palace – both at Ashton Gate. They’re hosts once again as PNE visit, and the Coral News Team can’t see past Bristol City to Win at 10/11.
Napoli v Shakhtar Donetsk: Both Teams to Score
Goals look a sure thing as these sides meet at Stadio San Paolo. The last meeting ended 2-1 to Hirnyky, and the Coral News Team are expecting both teams to register once again.
The Serie A side have only failed to net twice in 19 fixtures so far this term, and have chalked up 10 goals in their last five matches on home turf. As for the Ukrainian outfit, they’ve found the net in eight of nine, with Argentine striker Facundo Ferreyra in unstoppable form. Both Teams to Score looks likely at 4/6.
Spartak Moscow (-1) v. Maribor
NK Maribor made the UCL Group Stage for the first time in three years this season, but fans of the Slovenian club might now be wishing they hadn’t. They’ve now lost three European games on the trot, conceding 13 times and failing to score.
They should be easy pickings for a Spartak side who boast an impressive home record. Krasno-Belye are unbeaten in seven at home, and beat Group E rivals Sevilla 5-1 at Otkrytie Arena last month. The Spartak -1 handicap looks a safe bet at 8/11.
