Coral’s cracking odds for Eurovision Song Contest 2015

As households around Europe prepare to spend Saturday evening glued to their TV screens in anticipation of the 2015 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, Coral celebrate 60 years of the competition by bringing customers a raft of exciting odds.

Love it or loathe it, Eurovision surely brings the best out of the betting world. Here is our run-down of the favourites plus a selection of stupendous outsiders…

Favourites

Sweden (Mans Zelmerlow – “Heroes”)
The successful Scandinavian nation seem to be at it again as, having already captured the Song Contest crown an incredible five times, Swedish singer Mans Zelmerlow is 7/4 favourite with Coral to follow in ABBA and Loreen’s footsteps by claiming first place for his country.

Whatever their winning formula, the Swedes clearly have their finger on the pulse with this distinctive ditty. Listen to their 2015 entry below and you’ll have “heroeoowohs” stuck in your head for days:

Russia (Polina Gagarina – “A Million Voices”)
The Russians have suffered somewhat of a slump since their 2008 triumph with Dima Bilan’s “Believe”, but Polina Gagarina could be set to change all that with inspirational and melodic effort “A Million Voices”, which is being tipped as a serious contender at fantastic odds of 3/1.

Italy (Il Volo – “Grand Amore”)
Third favourites Italy, available to back at 7/2 to win, will be relying on the charisma of their trio of talented singers, who are aiming to tug on the heart strings of viewers with their brand of operatic pop, bringing a good dose of drama to proceedings.

Australia (Guy Sebastian – “Tonight Again”)
Putting aside the controversy surrounding Australia’s participation, the guests’ polished contribution could credibly feature in the UK charts, and is funky enough at 7/1 to get the crowd on their feet and steal the show.

Estonia (Elina Born and Stig Rasta – “Goodbye to Yesterday”)
Estonia’s ambitious entry reminds Coral writers a little of a James Bond theme tune. Sort of. Composed and cool duo Elina Born and Stig Rasta look a smart bet to stay nerve-free on the night and are 11/1 for victory in Vienna.

Outsiders

Belgium (Loic Nottet – “Rhythm Inside”)
Young Loic Nottet put in a pop-tastic performance during the live Semi-finals, making Belgium a tempting 2/1 chance to triumph on the night with this catchy tune and have you bopping to “Brrr-appap”.

Spain (Edurne – “Amanecer”)
Spain’s song “Amanecer” is certainly an outsider at 50/1, but entrant Edurne has appeal and sings in her native tongue, which is always a plus. “I like to try new things and this is one of the best experiences in my life,” said the popular TV presenter-turned vocalist.

United Kingdom (Electro Velvet- “Still In Love With You”)
The UK seems destined to stay stuck on five Eurovison victories, with an awful recent record of flops. Electro Velvet have again tried to channel the continents love of cheese, but will they hit the mark? Coral has the swinging duo priced at a favourable 40/1 to bring pride back to the nation.
