Coral’s continental Transfer Deadline Day window round-up

While fans in England are once again on tenterhooks, as Premier League clubs have until 6pm (ish) to get their houses in order, the curtain has been closed on transfer windows across the continent.

Coral experts sum-up the prominent movers and shakers from across Europe’s top leagues on their deadline day, so read here to find out our views on any summer switches you may have missed in Monday’s scramble!

We begin our overview in Italy, where Serie A sides (as usual) almost sent us dizzy with club-hoppers. Inter Milan were one of the busiest, reuniting boss Roberto Mancini with left back and former Galatasaray charge Alex Telles, who will spend the season on loan, and former Juventus midfield shield Felipe Melo, similarly nabbed in a late raid on the Turkish juggernauts.

Serbian schemer Adem Ljajic was also plucked from rivals Roma, with the Giallorossi (5/2 with Coral to win Serie A) recruiting Santos left back starlet Emerson Palmieri on loan.

Bundesliga big-guns Wolfsburg suffered another blow to their pack, with Croatian Ivan Perisic finally following Kevin De Bruyne out Die Wolfe’s door, to join Inter on a five-year deal.

To make space for the attacker, described in a rather English manner by Inter owner Erick Thohir as a “quality signing”, the Nerazzurri puzzlingly allowed playmaker Anderson Hernanes to join Scudetto competitors Juventus in a typically strung-out Serie A deal of €11m to be paid over three years.

Wolfsburg did not rest on their laurels however, as the wedge collected for both those departures went on Bayern Munich defender Dante and Schalke starlet Julian Draxler, with long-term admirers Juve missing out on the latter.

Inter weren’t the only Italian top tier team to bring in Bundesliga faces, as Borussia Dortmund’s flying Pole Jakub Blaszczykowski will be borrowed for the upcoming campaign by Fiorentina.

In La Liga, plenty of clubs did manage to get their paper work done on time, with Villarreal proving to be big players. The Yellow Submarine honed in on hitman Adrian Lopez, loaned from Portuguese giants Porto.

Real Betis also rolled the welcome wagon out for two attackers, as Joaquin Sanchez returned to his boyhood club after a nine-season absence, and Ricky van Wolfswinkel also rocked up, having been offload on loan again by Norwich City, for whom the Dutchman has scored a total of two goals.

Sevilla, meanwhile, turned to Inter outcast Marco Andreolli to plug their leaky backline, with the new Bathtubs man poised to partner Adil Rami, a previous arrival from the red half of the San Siro.

Athletic Bilbao, not ones to be left out, grabbed Raul Garcia from Atletico Madrid, reportedly inserting a typically extortionate, and unlikely ever to be met, Basque release clause of around €40m for the Pamplona-born midfield man.

As for the French market, Ligue 1 big-guns Marseille made a successful loan move for Juve’s Mauricio Isla, of former QPR flop fame, with another Old Lady full back in Paolo De Ceglie also poached for a temporary stint at the Stade Velodrome.

In return, last-minute supermarket sweepers Juventus (evens to retain the Scudetto) nabbed young midfielder Mario Lemina on loan. Could this arrival hint at the potential poaching of Paul Pogba? Keep tabs on Coral’s live transfer blog to find out!
