Coral present five fantastic outside bets for the US Open at Chambers Bay

With the US Open approaching, Coral present five bets that you may want to consider for the US Open, if you haven’t already.

Martin Kaymer top five finish: 9/1
The German won the tournament last year, so will be looking for a similar performance, and the two-time Major champion was straight-forward when he explained how he triumphed last time.

“It’s tough to explain how everything worked out,” Kaymer said. “I didn’t make any mistakes, and I played good golf.”

Justin Rose first round leader: 25/1
Coming off the back of an outstanding US Masters, which saw him tie for second with Phil Mickelson behind winner Jordan Spieth, Rose, who won this tournament in 2013, will be looking to start positively.

He came flying out of the blocks in Augusta, and as a result is a decent 25/1 price to be leading after the first round, on a course which is likely to suit him.

Tiger Woods top 10 finish: 4/1
The former world number one gave a respectable performance under the spotlight at the US Masters and is confident going into the tournament at Chambers Bay.

“I wouldn’t have made the changes if I wasn’t devoted to the game of golf and winning golf tournaments,” Woods said.

“I want to be out here. I want to play. I want to compete, and I want to win. And to me it’s so much fun having a chance to win on the back nine on Sunday. There’s plenty of times where I haven’t gotten it done.

“But there are also times when I have gotten it done. But you’ve got to be there. And that’s one of the reasons why over the course of my career I’ve made a few changes here and there in search of becoming a little more consistent to put myself there more often,” continued Woods.

“And we’re doing that. This year certainly has been a struggle. But for me to go through what I went through at Torrey (withdrawal) and Phoenix (missed cut), to come back and do what I did at Augusta gave me a lot of confidence going forward.”

Dustin Johnson outright – five places: 22/1
In the outright market which pays out for the top five, Johnson represents remarkable value, having performed well at Augusta. One of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour, the course at Chambers Bay will be well suited him and will remember that he recorded three eagles in one round at the US Masters, while also finishing joint-sixth.

Ernie Els top 20 finish: 5/1
One of the sport’s favourite characters, for his humility, the South African is seen as one of the good guys of golf. He stormed out of the blocks at Augusta and after the first day was just three shots behind leader Jordan Spieth, in a four-way tie for second.

He couldn’t maintain his form over the weekend, however, if his early performance there was a sign of things to come, his odds of 5/1 for a top 20 finish here could be a decent price.

Coral recommended tip: Dustin Johnson outright five places at 22/1!
