Bundesliga Preview: Hertha for the mother of upsets?

Odds and preview ahead of Bundesliga weekend

Must keep winning. That will be the words ringing in the ears of the Borussia Dortmund players ahead of this weekend.

Lucien Favre’s men are in action against Hertha Berlin on Saturday, before title rivals Bayern Munich host Mainz on Sunday.

Schalke will be looking to pick themselves up from the heavy defeat to Manchester City when they take on RB Leipzig too.

But it’s Dortmund’s trip to Berlin where we begin our preview of this weekend’s Bundesliga ties…

Hertha Berlin v Borussia Dortmund (Saturday 5:30pm)

BVB have been leapfrogged – albeit on goal difference – by Bayern Munich and need to keep winning to have a chance of picking up their first German title in seven years.

In the match betting Dortmund are 5/6 to pick up three crucial points. But they’ve been stuttering in recent weeks and you can find both teams to score in an away win at 12/5.

The last two meetings have seen the pair share the spoils and another stalemate is at 13/5.

In their 2-2 draw last October, Jadon Sancho shone with a brace. The winger will be buoyed by his England call-up in mid-week and can be found at 11/5 anytime and 14/1 for two or more goals.

Salomon Kalou scored twice in that 2-2 draw as well and he’s 10/3 to hit the net.

Hertha’s Ondrej Duda has grabbed ten goals already this campaign and you can get the forward at 3/1 anytime.

But a third successive draw with both Vedad Ibisevic and Dortmund’s Marco Reus getting on the scoresheet is 22/1.

Bayern Munich v Mainz (Sunday 5:00pm)

Bayern had started this Ruckrunde like an express train, winning nine and drawing one of their games in all competitions.

That form has seen them go above Dortmund at the top of the table on goal difference. But their momentum has been thwarted by their Champions League exit to Liverpool this week.

The last time they lost a match – away to Die Borussen, they drew the next one. But they face a Mainz team that have only one victory in their last six games.

The reigning champions are a skinny 1/8 to put their opponents to the sword. A stalemate would be a huge upset at 8/1.

It would be a shock if Bayern didn’t run up a score on Sunday, our traders have them at 4/5 to win to nil and 2/1 to win with Over 4.5 goals.

Best of the rest

After a battering at the hands of Man City, Schalke may fear the visit of RB Leipzig, who have won all four of their away games in the second half of the season.

Leipzig are battling for Champions League football and are 21/20 to score the three points.

Schalke boss Domenico Tedesco will hope the likes of Breel Embolo, at 13/5 anytime and Mark Uth at 3’s can score and drag the team to safety.

Elsewhere, Wolfsburg are 5/6 to beat Fortuna Dusseldorf and Hoffenheim are 17/20 to win and dothe double over Stuttgart.
