Monday’s horse racing afternoon action comes from opposite ends of England with card at Brighton and Carlisle.
Coral experts have already run the rule over the runners and rides, and give their Brighton best bets and top Carlisle tips for punters…
Goodwood Crusader can charge to success among Brighton best bets
Trainer Richard Hughes has an excellent record with his runners at Brighton, and Goodwood Crusader can further enhace it with victory in the 6f nursery on today’s card at the seaside venue (15:00).
The Lambourn handler has a 25 per cent strike rate at the track in the past 12 months, saddling four winners and four placed horses from 16 runners.
In Goodwood Crusader, he has a colt who has shaped with bags of promise in three outings, especially when fourth to Pretty Vacant over 5f at Lingfield two starts back.
The two-year-old kept on nicely under tender handling to be beaten four lengths and the winner has since finished fourth in a Listed race to be rated 86.
Second Nature, who finished 1/2 a length in front of the selection in third, has also gone on to taste success to be rated 84, so that makes an opening handicap mark of 68 for Goodwood Crusader look extremely lenient.
The step up in trip also looks sure to suit, and the son of Sir Prancelot remains open to any amount of improvement now handicapping.
Wahaab worth another chance
Hughes also looks to hold leading claims of landing the 6f selling handicap earlier on the card (14:30) with the frustrating Wahaab.
This gelding was a smart juvenile when trained by Richard Hannon, winning on debut at Goodwood before finishing seventh of 15 to War Command in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes.
Things haven’t gone to plan since but having initially been rated 91 the five-year-old is now able to race off just 60.
That gives Wahaab a huge chance on the pick of his form, and the son of Tamayuz showed he retained enough ability to win a race of this nature when an unlucky second at over course and distance four starts back.
He has also ran well on his last two starts under an inexperienced 7lb claimer and, with Shane Kelly now taking over in the saddle, this looks a golden opportunity for Wahaab to finally get his head back in front.

Carlisle tips: Crazy Tornado could blow punters away
Crazy Tornado has caught the eye in his last two starts, so looks decent value to take advantage of a drop in the weights to land the extended 6f handicap on today’s card at Carlisle (16:45).
This gelding won a 6f maiden at Dundalk back in February off an official rating of 74 when trained in Ireland by Mark Halford and is now able to race off a career-low mark of 68.
That gives the three-year-old every chance from a handicapping perspective, and there has been lots to like about his two runs this month since joining Scottish handler Keith Dalgleish.
After finishing a never nearer fifth over 7f at Ayr under tender handling, the son of Big Bad Bob ran far better than his final finishing position suggests when a 3 3/4 length fifth of 10 to Portland Street over course and distance five days ago.
Crazy Tornado stayed on strongly from off the pace to be nearest at the finish without being knocked about and it was an effort which suggested his time was near.
Parnassian fancied to follow-up
Parnassian created a huge impression when scoring on debut and looks to hold major claims of following-up in the 5f median auction stakes (14:45).
After being held-up in touch travelling strongly, the Karl Burke trained colt made smooth headway two from home to take up the running inside the last and forge clear to beat Lucky Mistake by 4 1/2 lengths.
The turn of foot shown by Parnassian to put the race quickly to bed was very impressive and one which suggested he needed keeping firmly onside.
Although the son of Elzaam has to shoulder a 7lb penalty for that runaway success, it is offset by the claim of promising young apprentice Clifford Lee.
It means that Parnassian, who is the only winner in the field, meets maidens on level terms.
That is a huge plus and, with a prospect of plenty more improvement to come, the Ontoawinner Syndicate owned two-year-old can take this en route to better things.
