Sheffield United have poor Elland Road form

The weekend’s Championship action kicks off with a cracker at Elland Road as Leeds United host Sheffield United.

With both sides sitting in the top-four, this should be a Yorkshire derby to savour.

Hosts Leeds are back on track after a fine 3-0 success at Bristol City last weekend ended a run of three straight defeats.

They face a tough test with the Blades having won seven of their last nine games. But three of the visitors’ four defeats this season have come on their travels.

Elland Road hasn’t been kind to the Sheffield outfit down the years either. Of their last nine visits they’ve managed to win just once.

And despite their recent blip, Leeds have been near-impregnable at home with just four defeats in 26 games.

So with all of that in mind, Coral’s Bet of the Day is Leeds United to win at 13/10.

Busy goalkeepers

Thomas Christiansen saw his Leeds side keep clean sheets in their first four home games this term.

But both Ipswich and Reading managed to net on their recent visits, and Sheffield United are equally strong up front.

The Blades have netted in each of their last four away games – scoring eight in total – so backing Leeds to win and both teams to score appeals at 15/4. Similarly, a home win and over 2.5 goals could also prove a smart move at 29/10.

Early starters

Leeds have netted 10 goals at home this season, and those goals have been spread fairly evenly.

But with six of those coming in the opening 45, it’s clear Christiansen likes to get his side up and running early on.

The hosts are 2/1 to win the first half. While 13/8 says Leeds are the first team to score in the opening period.

And 29/10 on Leeds/Leeds in the Half-Time/Full-Time also looks strong.
