Golden chance for Ben at Romford

Racing Post Greyhound TV features 12-race cards at Peterborough and Romford tonight (Live on Sky 468, Freesat 25), and Ben Golden rates the best bet at the latter in the A1 contest at 20:34.

The Jim Reynolds trained dog boasts a 50 per cent strike rate at the track (six wins from 12 starts) and has a good record from Trap 3 having won six from 11 in the white jacket.

Ben Golden is also three from four in the grade and has a slower starter on his inside in the shape of Borna Bug that should allow him to get a clear run to the bend.

There is also a possibility of trouble on the outside with Traps 5 and 6 closely matched on sectionals, and if pinging out in his best fashion Ben Golden has every chance of leading.

If doing so, the son of Droops Scolari is going to be a tough nut to crack.

Writtle definitely in the Mix

In the A4 (21:06), T4 Writtle Mix looks decent value now dropped down in class.

Danny Mullins’ bitch was last successful in A3 company five starts ago, and has been finding trouble recently in that grade.

This is easier and Writtle Mix is a powerful sort when getting a run and capable of a quick start when timing it right at the traps.

If things go to plan the daughter of Ace High Rumble has every chance of clearing Traps 3 and 4 on the run to the first, and if doing so Writtle Mix will be a massive player.

Catunda Colleen drawn to attack

Another that appeals on the Romford card is T3 Catunda Colleen in the A2 at 21:56.

Maggie Lucas’s bitch is in fine fettle at present and comes into the race having scored in the grade last time out.

Catunda Colleen posted a good sectional of 3.76, and with a slow starter on her outside and T2 Millmount Swift sure to be heading for the rails a repeat should be good enough to see her lead at the bend an make all in the white jacket.

Romford selections

20.34 T3 Ben Golden (NAP)
21.06 T4 Writtle Mix
21.56 T3 catunda Colleen (NB)

Alpha holds all the aces at Peterborough

Coolruss Alpha rates a solid bet to land the A2 that opens proceedings on tonight’s card at Peterborough (19:25).

The Deborah Manning trained dog has been competing and at A1 level in recent weeks and now drops down into a grade in which he is unbeaten in three starts at the track.

Coolruss Alpha is also four from six from Trap 2, and has the quickest time in the line-up.

The race should also be run so suit, and Alpha is a strong running who can turn handy and pounce late to land the spoils.

Floyd can cash-in on class drop

In the 21:32, T1 Ballymac Floyd is going to be tough to beat now dropped into A8 company.

Sharon Saberton’s dog has been running well in defeat in A5 and A6 company and this is by far the easiest task he has faced for some time.

The son of Ballymac Vic is also a bang railer ideally suited by the red jacket, and if turning handy should have too much middle race pace for his rivals to handle.

Razz ready to rock and roll

Kilara Razz is a tough and consistent sort and looks the answer to the A3 that brings proceedings to a close (22.18).

David Pruhs’ son of Premier Fantasy ran well in defeat last time out when fourth in an Open and had previously been beaten just a short-head in a A2 at this venue.

This represents a drop in class and Kilara Razz has a good record in the blue jacket.

Granted a clear passage this looks a nice opportunity for him to get back to winning ways.

Peterborough selections

19.25: T2 Coolruss Alpha (NAP)
21.32: T1 Ballymac Floyd (NB)
22.18: T2 Kilara Razz
