Malbay Balotelli looks magic at Monmore

Monmore stages a good mixed card tonight, which is screened live on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky 468, Freesat 250), and T2 Malbay Balotelli rates the standout bet in the 684m Open at 19:56.

The Paul Sallis trained son of Hades Rocket is a dual winner in the grade at the track and has a strike rate of 36% from the blue jacket, having won four of his 11 starts when sporting it.

Malbay Ballotelli also has winning form over course and distance, and boasts quicker sectionals over the shorter 630m trip than his main market rival Pretty Lane in Trap 1.

That gives him a great chance of bossing the inside and leading at the first and, if doing so, he is going to prove very hard to peg back.

Grandpas Girl drawn to attack

In the A1 at 19:24, T6 Grandpas Girl looks decent value to exploit what looks a great draw. The bitch is three from five at the track from the stripes and blessed with bags of early speed.

She clocked a 4.25 sectional three starts back when romping to a 5 1/2 length success in an A2 and showed a great attitude to follow-up in this grade after another quick 4.31 split.

Those sectionals are by far the quickest in the line-up, and with the possibility of crowding on the inside this looks a nice chance for Grandpas Girl to ping out and make all.

Finn fancied to foil Maqina

Along Came Finn is another that looks well drawn and can use his race fitness to good use to turn over the favourite La Maqina in the 480m Open (20:11).

Both of his two career successes have come over course and distance, and in the last of those seven days ago the son of Droopys Scolari showed a tremendous attitude to get up and score by a length after missing the break.

It was a most taking performance and one which suggested Julie Bateson’s dog may well have even more to offer.

There is every chance of Finn leading the outside, and with T1 La Maqina having his first competitive start since April he looks decent value to come out on top.

Racenight Sonny ready to rock

In the 630m Open (20:26), T4 Racenight Sonny looks to have plenty going for him. Corren Price’s dog got off the mark over 480m at the track five days ago when finishing well to score by 1/2 a length.

That will have done the son of College Causeway’s confidence the world of good and he may well have more to offer now stepped up in trip.

Sonny had an impressive trial over 630m back in December when producing a 12.85 sectional to score by 14 lengths in a time of 38.13.

That reads well in the context of this contest, and if turning handy he can prove too strong for his rivals.
