Preview and odds for Tuesday’s League Cup clash

These two Premier League clubs are fighting for a place in the League Cup quarter-finals so we examine the odds to find some Arsenal v Leeds betting tips.

Manchester City have won the League Cup for the last four years and six of the last eight.

Tuesday’s match, which takes place at the Emirates Stadium, kicks off at 7.45pm.

Arsenal v Leeds match odds

Arsenal have won the League Cup twice in their history – in 1987 and 1993.

They have also reached the final on another six occasions, the last of those coming in 2018 when they were defeated 3-0 by Manchester City.

The Gunners have had two comfortable victories to reach this stage, winning 6-0 at West Brom in the second round and then downing AFC Wimbledon 3-0 at home.

Mikel Arteta brings his side into this in good form.

Since being beaten 5-0 by Manchester City in the Premier League, Arsenal have won five and drawn two of their seven games in all competitions

They defeated Aston Villa 3-1 in the Premier League on Friday evening and are 4/6 to overcome Leeds.

Leeds, who last reached the quarter-finals in 2016-17, have not been in great form so far this term.

Boss Marcelo Bielsa has overseen a group that have won just one of their nine Premier League games.

On Saturday, Leeds secured their fourth draw of the campaign when they needed a stoppage-time Rodrigo penalty to snatch a 1-1 draw at home to Wolves.

Leeds defeated Crewe 3-0 in the second round but needed penalties to see off Championship side Fulham after a 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage. They are 4/1 to win at the Emirates.

Leeds’ penchant for a stalemate means the draw is available at 14/5 in the Arsenal v Leeds betting tips.

Arsenal v Leeds head-to-head

Leeds last won the League Cup in 1968 when they beat Arsenal.

They have triumphed in just three of their 12 domestic cup ties against the Gunners – also winning the 1972 FA Cup final and beating them in the fourth round of the 1996-97 FA Cup.

It is 23/20 the Whites win or draw the game in the Double Chance market.

This will be the first meeting between Arsenal and Leeds in the League Cup since September 1979 – the Gunners winning a second-round second-leg tie 7-0 at Highbury, their biggest win in the competition.

The Gunners have lost just one of their last 12 encounters with Leeds in all competitions (W8 D3).

Leeds have not won at Arsenal since a 3-2 Premier League success in 2003.

They have scored in five of their last eight visits to Arsenal, however, and it is 1/2 they net at least once.

Likewise, each side has netted in five of the last eight clashes at Arsenal and it is 8/11 both teams score.

Arsenal v Leeds key battles

With little chance of winning the Premier League and not being in Europe, the League Cup is one piece of hardware Arsenal will be keen to win and they are 9/1 to do so.

However, Bielsa will have a plan to frustrate the Gunners and it is worth noting that while he is winless in all three of his meetings with Arsenal (D1 L2), the only side he has failed to win any of his first four games against since his arrival in England is Nottingham Forest.

He will hope his defence keeps a tight leash on Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, should he start against the team he spent time on loan at in the 2019/20 season.

Nketiah has scored six goals in seven appearances in the League Cup and is 11/8 to strike at any time.
