PL Darts Trader’s Tips: Cross, Wade and MVG to clean up in Liverpool?

Rob Cross

Betting preview and odds for week 10

Only seven points separate Rob Cross at the top from Michael Smith down the bottom as the Premier League moves on to Week 10 in Liverpool this Thursday.

Voltage stars in one of the games of the night against Peter Wright, while Smith really needs a full haul of points in the final match against Michael van Gerwen.

Our man on the trading floor Alan Vye has had his say on all of the night’s four contests and given us his three best bets across the action in his Premier League Tips.

Coral News: So Alan, we’re off to Liverpool this week and it’s Rob Cross against Peter Wright first up. Voltage has lost just the twice so far and should just prove too good for Snakebite, right?

Alan Vye: Wright is in a real slump of present and was fortunate to escape with a draw against Smith last week. Cross should fancy this to continue his quest to top the league. I can’t see anything other than a Cross win. [Cross is 5/6 to win]

CN: Gerwyn Price against Mensur Suljovic is an interesting one. Despite all the talk the Iceman has won only three matches this term. Is Mensur the play at 6/4?

AV: There’s not much in this one for me, as the prices would suggest. If I had to pick a winner it would be Price but I can see this match taking all 14 legs. [7-7 draw is 10/3]

CN: Then we’re onto James Wade v Daryl Gurney in the third match of the night. This looks pretty tight, although the Machine’s finishing statistics should give him an advantage?

AV: Wade’s defeat and bad performance last week came a little out of the blue. I think he just struggled with the throwing style of Mensur.

He went on to win on the Pro Tour on Saturday and really is playing some of the best darts of his career currently. Gurney is a little hit-and-miss this season, so I’d forgive Wade last week and side with him once again. [Wade is 11/10 to win]

CN: We round things off with Michael van Gerwen versus Michael Smith. Is there any way Bully Boy can pull something out of the fire, or this a matter of how many legs MVG wins by?

AV: Smith’s struggles in the Premier League continue and while MVG is far from his consistent best, he’ll be up for this having dropped a point last week against Price. I think it might be closer than the odds suggest but fancy the Green Machine to pick up the two points. [MVG to win 8-5 is 13/2]

CN: Finally could you give us your three best bets for Week 10?

Cross to be King of the Oche (Most 180s, highest checkout & win) v Wright @ 3/1.

Wade most 180s v Gurney @ 7/5.

Smith +3.5 Legs Handicap v van Gerwen @ 4/5.
