Latest race preview and Formula E odds

The 2018-19 Formula E season reaches it’s halfway point this weekend with the Rome ePrix.

Six different drivers have won the openings six rounds of the campaign, in what has been a remarkably competitive debut for the new Gen2 car.

Will it become seven from seven in Italy? Or can someone finally become a two-time winner?

The season so far

Pre-season favourite Jean-Eric Vergne won last time out in China, after a smart move to overtake race leader Oliver Rowland.

With non-scoring results for Sam Bird, Lucas di Grassi and Edoardo Mortara, it means we head to the Italian capital with six drivers separated by just 10 points at the top of the standings.

Antonio Felix da Costa currently leads the way with 62 points. But the Portuguese driver has already retired twice, and is just one point ahead of Belgium’s Jerome d’Ambrosio.

Vergne and Bird are seven points further back, with di Grassi and Mortara another two behind.

More thrills expected

It means everything is brilliantly poised as we enter the second half of the campaign at the Circuito cittadino dell’EUR.

The 1.77mile venue is on the longer side of Formula E circuits, and overtaking is likely to be more difficult than in recent rounds.

Sam Bird won here 12 months ago, and the Englishman will be hoping for more success this weekend.
