Bundesliga Preview: Der Klassiker headlines the weekend
Odds and preview ahead of Bundesliga weekend
There are eight other ties this weekend, but a potential title-decider between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund dominates the Bundesliga landscape.
This week’s preview will begin at the Allianz Arena but we also delve into the BuLi’s melting pot of talent and pick out Bayer Leverkusen’s crucial tie against RB Leipzig and much more.
But first, Der Klassiker time.
Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund (Saturday 5:30pm)
Borussia Dortmund are currently two points ahead of Bayern Munich and know a win at 9/2 could be the final nail in the champion’s title defence.
It was BVB who came out on top in the reverse fixture. After falling 2-1 behind in the second half, the hosts went on to win 3-2 and stretch their unbeaten league run to eleven games.
With so much at stake and Bayern knowing they need to win, we could see another high-scoring affair.
Our traders go Over 4.5 Goals at 13/5 with both teams to score in a home win at 33/20.
Marco Reus sat out of the last gasp victory over Wolfsburg at the weekend, but the away side have averaged 2.36 points and scored 2.59 goals per league game with him in the team.
Reus to score in an away win is 6/1, Paco Alcacer is 11/5 to score anytime and 16/1 for two or more.
Serge Gnabry has arguably been Bayern’s standout man this campaign. Niko Kovac could go with him and Kingsley Coman on the flanks – Gnabry is 13/8 to hit the net.
Robert Lewandowski has often been the scourge of his former side since leaving in 2014. The Polish ‘torjäger’ is 3/1 to hit two or more goals and at Evens to notch in a home victory.
Home advantage could be crucial here, so the BlackYellow may settle for a draw depending on how the game goes. BVB are 7/5 on the double chance to stay ahead of their fierce rivals.
You can get Evens for both teams to score, Over 2.5 goals and either side to win.
Bayer Leverkusen v RB Leipzig (Saturday 2:30pm)
In Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, two of Germany’s most talented stars go head-to-head when these two meet on Saturday afternoon.
Leverkusen are hoping to bounce back from their 4-1 mauling at the hands of Hoffenheim last time out.
The home side have fallen away from the Champions League places lately and need the win at 13/10 to reignite their hopes.
But Bayer have lost three of their five encounters against Leipzig who are 15/8 to consolidate their top-three position.
Roten Bullen ran out 3-0 winner’s last time out and are 5/1 to win to nil in this one.
In the goalscoring markets Emil Forsberg is 10/3 to score anytime. Werner is 13/8 anytime, with Tyler Adams further back at 16/1 to grab his first goal for his new side.
Die Werkself’s best chance of a goal falls to the feet of Kevin Volland at 6/4, while Havertz to score in a Leverkusen win is 14/5.
