PL Darts Betting Tips: Can home hero Hopp get Berlin bouncing?

Betting preview and odds for PL Darts Week 7

The Premier League heads to Berlin this Thursday for the first part of a three-leg tour of Europe, which also includes two nights in Rotterdam next week.

Max Hopp will hope to have the home fans on their feet against Raymond van Barneveld, although it’s Gerwyn Price’s clash with Rob Cross in the opener that looks the game of the night.

It’s that tie which sets us on our way in the German capital.

Gerwyn Price v Rob Cross

These two are both bang in form. That should make for a close match first-up. They’re separated by 0.84% in terms of checkout percentage, and 4.45 points where tournament averages are concerned.

However, Price underperformed when put under pressure against Michael van Gerwen last week, whereas Cross has been a model of consistency throughout the Premier League so far.

A draw isn’t out of the question at 3/1, although Voltage could nick it 7-5 at 5/1. The pair are big 180 hitters, though, with 36 between them so far. Over 6.5 Maximums is available at 11/10.

James Wade v Peter Wright

Wright has proved a tough nut to crack this season. Snakebite is fourth in the table, has lost just once and may fancy his chances against the Machine, who malfunctioned in Nottingham last week.

That 3-7 defeat against Mensur Suljovic was hugely out of character for Wade, who has the second-highest tournament average and a remarkable 47.89% checkout rate – the best in the Premier League.

That suggests this should be a close-run thing. Another Draw is available at 3/1, while Wade is 4/7 on the Double Chance. Over 5.5 180s between two players who have 37 combined so far is 4/5.

Michael van Gerwen v Daryl Gurney

MVG bounced back to form in some style last week. The Green Machine thrashed Price 7-2 in Nottingham, hitting 50% or more on his doubles for the second consecutive week.

Gurney should be worried. The Ulsterman has disappointed so far and is bottom rank in terms of both checkout percentages (36.23%), and more surprisingly 180s hit (11).

It’s difficult to see the tide turning in Berlin. While van Gerwen is 1/4 outright, it’s 13/8 he wins with a -4.5 Handicap and 2/1 about his King of the Oche odds.

However, neither player is particularly proficient around the T20 bed, with the Coral traders going 6/5 for Under 5.5 180s.

Michael Smith v Mensur Suljovic

He’s not dealing with an abscess anymore. But Smith still doesn’t look back to his best. That could be a problem against Suljovic, who finally picked up the win that his performances deserved against Wade.

The Gentle is always around the 100 mark in terms of average. He married that up with 50% on his doubles to take advantage of an under-par Wade last week.

He may fancy his chances against Smith at 7/4, although Bully Boy should edge the maximum count at 8/13. What looks a close match could also produce Over 11.5 Legs at 11/10.

Max Hopp v Raymond van Barneveld

It’s all going wrong for Barney. And it’s not likely to get much better here. Both players feed off the crowd, although it’s contender Hopp who’ll receive the swell of support in Berlin.

As long as the Maximiser doesn’t buckle in front of the 12,000 strong home crowd, he should prevail at 7/5. Hopp is also renowned for his T20 hitting and looks likely to pile in more than Barney at 6/5.
