Odds and tips ahead of Second Round games

The Carabao Cup action continues tonight with the final four second round games.

Ahead of Nottingham Forest v Newcastle United, there’s a Big Match Breakdown on this City Ground cracker.

But with intriguing ties elsewhere, the Coral News Team have their top tips on the evening’s other three games…

Millwall v Plymouth Argyle

League One Argyle knocked out Championship Bristol City in the last round of the Carabao Cup. But lightning is unlikely to strike twice for the visitors at The Den.

The hosts have lost just once at home since mid-November, and face a side who are rock bottom of the third tier.

Millwall are 1/2 for the win in 90 minutes. Meanwhile, with seven of Plymouth’s last nine defeats coming by a margin or two or more goals, it’s 27/20 for Millwall -1.

Lee Gregory has hit double figures for the Lions in each of the previous three seasons, and remains their biggest goal threat. It’s 6/4 for Gregory to score in a Lions win.

With Plymouth dire in defence but possessing a flicker of attacking quality, they could at least notch. It’s 11/1 for 3-1 Millwall in the Correct Score market.

Reading v Watford

Everything points to a Hornets victory in this one. Reading may have home advantage, but that’s about all that’s in their favour.

Watford have started this season in electric form, winning each of their first three Premier League games. That included a 3-1 win at Burnley – so far the only time in 2018 that an away side has scored three at Turf Moor.

In the match betting, it’s 19/5 for Reading and 11/4 for the Draw. However, a Watford victory at 3/4 looks the most likely outcome, going by Coral’s odds.

Only three teams scored fewer goals than the Royals in last season’s Championship, and it’s 2/1 for the Hornets to Win to Nil. Troy Deeney has netted against Reading on three prior occasions, and is 13/8 to register Anytime at the Madejski Stadium.

Everton v Rotherham United

In theory, this looks about as straightforward as they come for Everton.

The Millers have had a decent enough start to life back in the Championship, with wins over the likes of Millwall and Ipswich Town. But away days are their Achilles heel.

They’ve already lost 5-1 (at Brentford) and 2-0 (at Leeds-United) and should prove easy prey for a Toffees side unbeaten in their last eight Premier League games.

2/9 shots Everton should wrap this up in 90 minutes. At longer odds, it’s 11/8 for the Toffees to Win Both Halves, while the Everton -2 handicap is 6/4.

Many at Goodison Park have high hopes for youngster Nathan Broadhead. He’s likely to feature here, and the Wales Under-21 international is 7/4 to find the net.
