Tuesday EFL Acca Tips: Derby, Doncaster and Northampton feature
Rams host Ipswich Town this evening
There’s a host of action from all three EFL leagues tonight, including a big clash between Swansea City and Leeds United. And you can check out the Big Match Breakdown on that game.
But there’s plenty more happening across the divisions, and ahead of kick-off the Coral News Team have five top tips on the action…
Derby County to beat Ipswich Town @ 20/23
Frank Lampard’s Rams are a work in progress. But they’ve shown flashes of real quality – especially in the 2-1 opening day win at Reading.
They host an Ipswich side yet to find their feet under new boss Paul Hurst. Winless in three league games, the Tractor Boys also suffered an embarrassing Carabao Cup exit at League Two Exeter City.
With Derby also winning two of the last three head-to-heads, they should prove too strong for the Suffolk outfit.
Rotherham United v Hull City: Under 2.5 Goals @ 3/4
The early signs suggest this one could be something of a snoozefest. The Millers have managed just two goals in their opening three games, as have Hull.
Many of the pair’s prior clashes have also been tight affairs. In fact, just two of the last six meetings have produced more than two goals – with the last clash at New York Stadium ending 2-0 to Rotherham.
Doncaster Rovers to beat Shrewsbury Town @ 21/20
The Shrews’ promotion-chasing crop of last season have been picked off by bigger clubs. And this looks likely to be a long and difficult campaign for the Salop faithful.
By contrast, Donny look upwardly mobile under Grant McCann. Three wins from four in all competitions is an impressive start – and they’ve got the likes of John Marquis and Leeds United loanee Mallik Wilks in sterling form.
Charlton Athletic v Peterborough United: BTTS @ 4/6
Posh are the early-season pace-setters in League One. They’ve won all three games, netting nine times. But Steve Evans all-action outfit are yet to manage a clean sheet.
Hosts Charlton have had a mixed start, with a win, loss and draw from their opening three matches. Each game has seen both sides net, with their last match a 1-1 draw at Accrington Stanley.
Last season’s clashes between this pair ended with a 4-1 Peterborough win and a 2-2 draw at The Valley – so Both Teams to Score seems likely.
Northampton Town to beat Morecambe @ 11/10
The Cobblers head to the Globe Arena following back-to-back 2-2 draws in League Two. But they should have enough quality to return home with maximum points.
Rock-bottom Morecambe have lost all three games, conceding nine goals and scoring none. That’s part of a longer barren streak, with the Shrimps winless in their last 15 in all competitions.
Northampton have won each of the last four head-to-heads, and everything suggests they’ll make it five tonight.
