Five things to look for at this year’s US Masters

All eyes are on Augusta once more

The 82^nd US Masters is imminent and Golf is enjoying that annual buzz as the first major of the year approaches.

This year’s event at Augusta will have to go some way to eclipses last year’s tale, which saw Sergio Garcia finally become a major winner.

But the 2018 Masters could be sensational.

There are some huge storylines to be played out across the four days in Georgia, and the Coral News Team run through them all…

Will Tiger really be in the mix?

The top story for this year’s Masters is Tiger Woods.  

After impressive results in the Valspar Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational, there’s an increasingly strong vibe that the 14-time major champion is rediscovering his touch.

If he continues to do so in Georgia, then his rivals may have to up their game.

Punters have been lumping on Woods to win the Masters in light of his turn of form. From 33/1 the four-time Masters champion is now just 9/1 to win it for a fifth time.

Expect Woods to be the talk of the town, whether he succeeds or fails on the course.

Where are DJ, Spieth and Rory at?

Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy are all pretenders to Woods’ crown as the greatest in the game.

All three will relish having a fully-fit Tiger to play against, but how will they actually get on?

DJ still only has that single major to his name, while Spieth has gone off the boil since his sensational 2015 season. Then there’s Rory, who is on the comeback trail like Woods and is without a major win since 2014.

All three therefore have much to prove. Will any of them end up with the Green Jacket?

Is Bubba back in business?

As a two-time Masters champion, Bubba Watson knows his way around the Augusta fairways better than most.

But since his second Green Jacket in 2014, Watson hasn’t quite managed to hit those levels.

The American looks back on song after winning the WGC Match Play however. An on-form Bubba is hard to keep up with, so will he be in the mix for a third Masters title at 14/1?

Rose is Britain’s best chance

Will 2018 be the year for Justin Rose? The Briton came agonisingly close 12 months ago, losing in a play-off to Garcia.

The 37-year-old came home second in 2015 too, so is it third time lucky at 10/1 with Coral?

He’s certainly in the right form. Rose was third at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and fifth in the Valspar Championship.
