Bet of the Day: Superchin to get super-win on day five at the Darts
Northern-Irishman makes his bow
Day five at the PDC World Darts Championship sees Daryl Gurney take on Ronny Huybrechts.
The Northern-Irishman has climbed to fourth in the World Rankings after an incredible year on the circuit.
Gurney claimed his first major success with victory in the World Grand Prix in October. He followed that up with a trio of quarter-final appearances in further PDC majors.
He holds the form claims going into this one and should progress comfortably against Huybrechts. The Belgian is usually a slow starter at the Alexandra Palace and should find Gurney too hot to handle in the opening round.
The Coral News Team like the look of Daryl Gurney to be King of the Oche (Win Match, Most 180s, Highest Checkout) as the Bet of the Day at 5/6.
Back a fast start
Gurney is considered something of a rhythm player. When he gets into his stride, he is almost unstoppable.
In the Players Championship last month, he opened with a 6-0 defeat of Jeffrey de Zwaan, hitting three 180s in just six legs.
That power scoring is a huge part of the 31-year-old’s game. It’s 6/4 that he opens tournament with a 180 in the first leg.
Whitewash on the cards?
Set play doesn’t really favour Huybrechts. In his last three matches over the format, he’s been beaten 0-2, 0-3 and 0-4. Up against an in-form player like Gurney, the Belgian’s poor run appears likely to continue.
You can get 6/5 about a 3-0 whitewash win for the Ulsterman.
